Where to begin.......
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast is a talk show hosted by the cartoon character, Tad Ghostal, AKA SPACE GHOST. As many know, Space Ghost was a cartoon character from the 1960's that fought interstellar bad guys from evil robots to giant insects.
40 years later, Space Ghost has formed a talk show with a couple other regulars from the television series. ZORAK the evil Mantis is now the shows band leader. MOLTAR is the technician and director of the show. And BRAK, the wacked out guest that shows up every so often so screw up the show and drive everyone crazy.
But, this is not just a cartoon show. Space Ghost interviews REAL people via the television set hovering over his desk. Most of the time he interviews stars who's times have past like ADAM WEST and JOHN DENVER from Gilligans Island. But, sometimes he'll surprise you with guests like TYRA BANKS and TERRY JONES.
The great part is that the interviews are not like interviews from any other talk show. A lot of time the dialogue is so obscure and pointless it is extremely funny.
Here's a little example from the episode "BANJO" where Space Ghost is interviewing rapper SCHOOLY D
SPACE GHOST: Do you have any super powers?
SCHOOLY D: Yeah, of course I got super powers because I'm Schooly D.
SPACE GHOST: Display them!
SCHOOLY D: I can't do that.
SPACE GHOST: Why not?
SCHOOLY D: I'm just not allowed to do it.
SPACE GHOST: So you mean you don't have any.
SCHOOLY D: Yeah.
SPACE GHOST: So the D stands for "Defenseless."
Thats kind of how the interviews go. They do not actually discuss anything they are doing. They talk about the moon or their favorite cheese. I know it sounds weird....and it is. But, its hilarious !!
There is nothing funnier than watch Space Ghost make fun of R.E.M. in front of lead singer Michael Stipe. Or when Space Ghost has an, "APPRECIATE THE WOMAN" episode and has Alice Cooper on as a guest.

Guest range from Carol Channing to Hulk Hogan. Granted this first season was more or less an experiment and the guests in the following seasons got a little more mainstream. But, the first episodes are classic.
The DVD extras are scarce. We only get a few commentaries for a few episodes and some extra cartoon footage. Every episode is also only about 10 to 15 minutes a piece. But, for around $20.00, thats pretty fair for 350 minutes of shows and extras. Most seasons that appear on DVD cost more than $20.00.
The video and audio are decent. Like the show..the quality is about how it was in the 60's. The only things the creators of the show do is take cut outs of the cartoon characters and move them in different positions and things. In other words, the animation is pretty basic. Do not let this discourage you though, the show is brilliant.
This is one of the best shows on Cartoon Network and the best show on Adult Swim. If you have seen this show, but not how it started...buy this DVD.
