kjscrafts's Full Review: Berenstain Bears - Fun Lessons To Learn
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie''s plot.
This DVD contains six episodes of the Berenstain Bears cartoon show. This show is based on the series of books for kids that feature the Berenstain bear family. The main characters are Brother Bear and Sister Bear. The show is a fun show for young kids around early grade school age to relate to and learn from.
The first episode is called "Trouble at School." In this episode Brother does not do his worksheets that are sent home when he is sick and instead plays with dinos and watches tv. The consequences are that he fails a math test when he returns to school. After trying to hide his failure he learns to confront the issue and do the work to learn what he missed.
The second episode is called "Go To School." In this episode Too Tall, the school bully, makes sister scared about starting third grade and her new teacher. Mama shows her old photos of Sister in kindergarten and reminds her how she was scared starting kindergarten, but then learned to love school.
The third episode is called "The Homework Haste." This episode is somewhat similar to the lesson in the first episode. In this episode Brother falls behind on school work, but this time it is just because he keeps putting it off and not because he was sick. He learns to start doing it daily and to keep it from piling up, as well as to have self-control and avoid getting distracted from doing his homework.
The fourth episode is called "Lend a Helping Hand." In this episode Brother and Sister learn how to help others. At first they are a little annoyed with all the help they are asked to do, but in the end they find joy in it and learn some interesting things about one of the old bears in town.
The fifth episode is called "Too Much Pressure." In this episode the Bear family finds themselves overwhelmed with activities. They create a chart to try and fit everything in. While this helps in the end they find they need to limit their activities in order to really enjoy themselves and not be so stressed.
The sixth episode is called "The Trouble with Pets." In this episode Brother and Sister want a pet. It takes them some time to agree on what to get. The end up with a puppy and then must learn how to be responsible and take turns taking care of her.
The content of this DVD is great, but the menus are a little confusing at points. For example, on the episode selection menu the back and more episodes are hidden until you go down to highlight on them. The back is a highlight flower shape and looks more like a hidden Easter Egg than its function of just going back to the previous menu. The arrow to show more episodes is just a tiny thing that looks like >. I noticed that in the corner near where these symbols highlight there are the same symbols that appear when you highlight them, but they do not match up with the highlighted symbols and look just like they are part of the background image for the menu.
