Re: Great review...I long for Firefly to return... (Reply to this comment)

I'm still irritated that the show was cancelled so early. Fox never gave it a chance. I was thrilled when the movie came out though I would still rather it was still going as a series. There would have been so much more character development and stories covered that way. But I'll take what we can get. At least there is more of a sense of closure to some of the things that were left unresolved during the show. I would still love for it to be back on..or for there to be more movies. If the show is back in any way, I'll be watching.
Thanks for the comment. :)

Great review...I long for Firefly to return... (Reply to this comment)

I'm fairly new at epinions but one of the first things I made sure to review was this series, that I am still so sad that they cancelled. Everything about it was great, and why the politics of network television shot it down I will never fully understand, let alone condone. Rumors abound they are still trying to get it to come back, with Whedon actually waiting to see how the DVD sales are..I guess he's wanting to launch more movies, but with fan interest I've heard the series may return. I fell in love with the characters and their backgrounds and troubles, as well as screen presence. Even the special effects seemed special and different. Maybe someday soon we'll see Serenity looming on the horizon! Great review btw, and thanks ahead of time for being a supportive fan of a show that seems to be loved by most, and missed by all.

of this series until recently. I'm surprised that Fox pulled a Whedon show so quickly - what were they thinking? Maybe with the movie and all the hype for the show they'll bring it back.
I know what you mean. I don't get it either. Though the fact that they aired the episodes out of order and the show did get pre emptied more than once - I think for baseball - didn't help matters either. At the time this show started, Buffy and Angel had been on for a while, and the people at Fox should have known that there would be long, elaborate story arcs going on that would take time to get through.
Good review - I'm thinking about seeing both the series and the movie, but it may just make me sad that the show was canceled!
I'm still sad that the show was cancelled, but it is so wonderful it is worth seeing what Whedon was able to make. The DVD set has been pretty reasonable price wise for the last few months. The movie is wonderful too - review in progress now. I wanted to get it done earlier today, but things came up. Now I'm aiming for tomorrow.
Thanks for the comment. :)

From what I've read and what was said in one of the featurettes, Fox didn't think the pilot had enough action. They wanted the show to just jump into action stuff and never mind introducing the characters. I have no idea why the other episodes were aired out of order. It is a very good show and it is really is a shame that Fox treated it that way.

From what I've seen of Firefly, I think it was a great show, and it's a shame Fox treated it so poorly. I mean, showing the pilot episode last? What was the rationale behind that?
Anyway, I enjoyed your review; it got me all excited to see Serenity. :)
