I had seen the trailers for Scary Movie 3 and I laughed so hard just by the commercials. I thought, “I HAVE TO see this!” My wife totally agreed, and we were so excited to go to it today, its release date. I hadn’t seen the previous Scary Movies, but I thought this one would be good to see since I had seen The Ring, 8 Mile and Signs, all movies which the movie makes fun of. And now for the feature presentation...
Acting
The movie has several excellent actors. Pamela Anderson is at the very beginning and only has a very short role. In my opinion, she was fit for the role at the beginning, but her breast kept popping out of her blouse. My wife told me to stop staring...
Queen Latifah does have a bigger role than Pamela, but it’s still a small role. She plays a psychic and is so funny. Queen Latifah is naturally a funny actress and she did very well in the few lines that she had in this movie. A part in the commercial involving Queen Latifah was actually cut out from the movie, unfortunately.
Anna Faris played the protagonist in the movie, and she also played Lost In Translation, The Hot Chick, Scary Movie, and Scary Movie 2. Faris plays Cindy and does very well. I always thought that she was a great actress, and she fit the roll perfectly in Scary Movie 3.
Plot
The movie takes The Ring, 8 Mile and Signs, and combines them all together into one plot. However, instead of the movie being serious and scary, Scary Movie 3 turned the movies into hilarious. I found parts in Scary Movie 3 to be funny that would be more serious or scary in the movies just listed.
Cindy, a news telecaster, is tipped off by her friend (or should I say...dead...friend) that there is this tape. After you see the tape, the phone calls, and a scary voice comes on and says, “Seven days.” Then the person dies seven days later. Her friend did die seven days later, and Cindy somehow broke the curse and stopped more people from dying.
The movie also does have some parts revolving around 8 Mile and Signs, but the movie is more revolved around The Ring than all the movies. So what’s going to happen? Is the curse going to be broken before Tapatha, the girl who kills people who see the tape, kills anyone else? You’ll have to see the movie to see it.
Some Funny Parts
- Ever seen aliens welcome people by choking them then kicking them in the nuts to say goodbye?
- Ever seen Queen Latifah choke an ugly girl by sticking her arm into the tv?
- Ever ride on a bus going to ‘Da Hood’?
- Ever banged your head so much (by accident) that you passed out, then banged your head again when waking up?
My Thoughts
It’s obvious to see that the movie is funny. It’s hilarious. There are so many funny parts that I can’t even mention them all. The way the actors act really add to the humor of the movie, and they really did an exceptional job in the movie. I really think that there couldn’t have been a better acting crew than those who played in Scary Movie 3.
The movie was a bit predictable, but when you’re making a remake of three movies combined, it’s going to be predictable. We all knew what was going to happen, but the fun part was seeing what funny things would be thrown in the path before achieving the goal. I really didn’t mind that the movie was predictable and it only ruined just a tiny bit of the fun.
The movie is rated PG-13. I agree with that rating since there is some sexual contact and a lot of swearing. Also, the movie does have some scary parts, and little kids will get scared easily. The movie runs for and hour and 30 minutes. It was a bit short, but none of the scenes were rushed and I think it was done perfectly.
I would definitely give Scary Movie 3 five stars because it’s funny, has a good plot, and has the best acting. I have only given one other movie five stars, but Scary Movie deserves it!
