Cons: While Deschanel is cute, the role of Jovie could have been cast a little better

. . .but I've read that it's a wonderful movie, and, from your description of it, I can see why!

The Wedding Planner is another great contemporary movie that has romance with only a sprinkling of what might raise its rating from G-PG (mostly, the "accident" involving a statue). Great date film and/or chick-flik.

Other than, possibly, being too tall for the part, another good "elf" choice would be Tom Hanks who makes such a wonderful manchild!
