Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
I have recently gotten into collecting Music Video DVDs. I have been able to find several of my favorite country stars music DVDs at Kmart and Walmart for around $6.00. My collection is starting to grow at a nice rate.
One of the latest that I have purchased is the Martina McBride Limited Edition DVD. It has six of Martinas music videos. There are no other extra things included like interviews or behind the scenes footage. It is the six videos only. It can be heard in either Dolby 5.1 or Dolby Stereo. The picture and sound are both terrific. The menu is easy to navigate through. You can pick to play all of the videos or can go in a pick a specific one.
Videos Included:
This Ones For the Girls
This is a fun song that was on Martinas latest CD. Martina is wearing a cute black skirt. There are various clips of different people throughout the video. There are young girls, a guy and a girl together, older girls dancing, a girl with her grandmother, and a rocker looking girl with a guitar. There are a couple of clips of Martina jumping on a bed with her two girls. There are also various shots of Martina in different rooms with different lighting and designs on the wall. Near the end of the video all of the people who had been in it are sitting on the bed.
This one's for the girls,
Who've ever had a broken heart;
Who've wished upon a shootin' star:
You're beautiful the way you are.
This one's for the girls,
Who love without holdin' back;
Who dream with everything they have.
All around the world:
This one's for the girls.
Concrete Angel
This is one of the saddest songs and videos that Martina has ever done. It is really heart wrenching. The video shows a mother smoking as the little girl leaves for school. Martina is wearing all black as she sings. There are bruises all over the little girls arm, but her teacher ignores it. The little girl makes friends with a little boy. The little boy is watching, as the mother becomes violent with the little girl. He is standing outside watching as the cops come to the house. The next scene is in a cemetery where you realize the mother has killed the little girl. There are few people at the gravesite and the little boy is sad for the loss of his friend. He dreams that she is able to hug him and they can run off to play. This is a very emotional video. Preventing child abuse is one of Martinas big causes. It is very close to her heart and I hope this video has touched many. I know it has touched me and just made me want to hug my children.
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where
She's loved
Concrete angel
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
Where Would You Be
This was filmed at the 2002 CMT Flameworthy Awards Show. Martina looks stunning in an all white pants suit. She sings as candles are burning in the background. People in the audience are singing with her and dancing. Martina can sure hit those high notes. I also saw a clip of Keith Urban and Chely Wright as they were sitting in the audience.
Where would you be
If you weren't here with me
Where would you go
If you were single and free
Who would you love
Would it be me
Where would you be
Have I become the enemy
Is it hard to be yourself
In my company
Blessed
This video was really special to Martina. It included her two real life daughters and her husband. The setting for the video looks almost magical. It looks like it was filmed in the middle of an enchanted forest. There are flowers, trees, a big swing and an angel statue. Martina looks beautiful in a long flowing dress. There are various clips of Martinas daughters throughout the video. There is a really sweet shot of the whole family as the children are lying on their parents lap. The video also shows a woman with a baby, a young couple and an old couple.
I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones
That love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed
When God Fearin Women Get the Blues
This is a really fun song that Martina did. It is done as a news report and Martina is the news reporter. It shows the dramatic re-enactment of a woman that just couldnt take it anymore. She is driving a Mustang through town and all are supporting her. Its a very unusual song for sure. It ends in the pouring rain.
When God-fearin' women get the blues
There ain't no slap-dab-a tellin'
What they're gonna do
Run around yellin'
I've got a Mustang
It'll do 80
You don't have to be my baby
I've stirred my last batch of gray
You don't have to be my baby
Independence Day
This was the first song that Martina did on domestic abuse. It was done back in 1994 and has been one of Martinas most popular songs ever since. The video is shot in all black and white. It begins with a couple of children singing Amazing Grace. It is the story of a little girl with an abusive Daddy. He drinks and beats up her mother. So the little girl heads to town to go to the festivities for Independence Day. When she returns home her mother has set the house on fire. Martina is singing in front of a house that is all in flames. The little girl comes running home and is grabbed by a police officer. Tears run down her face as she is put into his car.
Let freedom ring, let the white dove sing
let the whole world know that today
is a day of reckoning.
Let the weak be strong, let the right be wrong
roll the stone away, let the guilty pay
its Independence Day.
