'Teacher's Pet' is not the best movie you are ever going to see. It's also not the worst.
Whether you enjoy this movie or not depends largely on your purpose for going to see it in the first place -- and whether or not you are a fan of Nathan Lane.
Lane stars of the voice of Scott Leadready II, who is actually a dog named Spot who yearns to be a real boy.
Scott/Spot travels across the country to visit a crazed scientist who claims to be able to turn animals into humans, only to find out that becoming human isn't as wonderful as he expected it to be.
Lane is undoubtedly the voice of this film, and if you are a fan you will find this film tolerable. If he gets on your nerves, this movie is not for you.
The movie includes some decent musical numbers, which may also appeal to adults in the crowd. It also attempts -- only somewhat successfully -- to portray a special bond between a boy and his dog.
This film is rated PG because it is crude in a couple of spots, yet the audience this film would appeal to is the 6-10-year-old crowd.
In all, remember that this film is not aimed at adults, it's aimed at youngsters. While not a 'Finding Nemo' type blockbuster, I took my 7-year-old to see it and he enjoyed it. Had I brought my 13-year-old son, he would have been looking for the exit after 5 minutes.
