OK,, I dont come off as a Christian,, but even though I'm a poor excuse for one,, doesn't mean I'm not one. I went with my adopted daughter and my roommate Pwyll to go see the movie. All I can say is WOW! This is THE most powerful movie I have EVER seen in my life!
Passion of the Christ is about the last 12 hours that Jesus spent on Earth. I'm not 100% sure but I believe the film was made on Holy land. If it wasn't,, it sure looked like it.
The first scene is Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane sweating blood and praying for the cup to be passed from him. This scene had a lot of emotion and was very well done.
When Judas betrays Jesus you could feel the remorse Judas felt long afterward and up to he point that he took his own life after being tormented by demons. The longest scene was the scourging. I had a rough time watching it because it was so savage and brutal. It left me and the kid in tears.
The actors they picked did a very good job with this film. They were very convincing. It was as though I was looking back through time and seeing what events unfolded that day.
The movie was in some foriegn language that I can't speak write or even decipher, so they had everything subtitled which I think took from the movie. I'd rather hear english to be honest. The realism factor was incredible. There were a lot of scenes where I had to turn my head because it was too real. It was so real that the kid and I were in tears! I'm not joking around here. If you're a sensitive person to totally brutal violence on an innocent person,, then you'll want to turn your head during a lot of scenes.
If you want to know what Jesus went though to save the world from sin, then this movie is it. It's so real and over the edge that it will shock you. I came home in a semi state of shock and I'm still reeling from it. I can't get the brutal images out of my head.
Mel Gibson knew what he was doing when he made this film. It's no wonder it's been selling out daily!
