If you know anything about Hentai and Anime, you'll recognize the main character of this title. Before the "Mezzo" Anime series there was "Mezzo Forte," an adult anime title that is very different from "Mezzo," to say the least.
"Mezzo: Danger Service Agency" takes place after the events of the Hentai. The lead character, Mikura, is now teamed up with Kurokowa, a former detective and Haruda, a computer engineer with funny looking blonde hair. Together they are the DSA- the Danger Service Agency and they take on the most challenging and tough cases that come to their headquarters, which is a large British-style red bus.
The series is certainly eccentric and most of the episodes are filled with humor. The writing can't be accused of not being original because most of the time the dialogue is odd. For English viewers, you will scratch your head at the English dub or the subtitles. The main suspect for odd dialogue is Kurokawa, who will often be talking about one thing and then focus his attention on something else right away.
Mikura is the almost always the one who busts down doors and apprehends whatever theif or killer the DSA finds. Kurokawa will come to save the day when needed and it's hard to say what Haruda does but drive their funky pink beetle and tinker with hardware.
In this first volume, the DSA comes up against a creepy barber's cliche henchmen, a ghost, an assassin and even aliens! The DSA also meets Asami, a shy little girl who meets the DSA and tends to hang around them.
"Mezzo: Danger Service Agency" is an alright series considering that its source material. You wouldn't expect a Hentai to be transformed into a wacky, silly, sci-fi lite series that younger people can enjoy just as easily as adults can.
