Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
It's funny. Just yesterday I wrote my last epinions review, then looked at the clock and realized "yesterday" was over 4 years ago. Crap.
So I watched The Forgotten last night. Not because I particularly wanted to, but I was in one of my classic "god, I'm friggin bored" moods, and the DVD was simply the only thing that caught my attention.
Now, I'm going to make this quick and painless for you, making sure you don't rise to a similar pinnacle of boredom such as I did last night, causing you to snap and watch an outright sloppy, predictable, poorly written film such as this one.
Well actually, I lied. It wasn't ALL that terrible. The acting and special effects were up to par, with a script that was seemingly pointed in the right direction. The first 75 minutes had you holding on to your seat, anxiously awaiting what was sure to be an exciting and shocking conclusion; something so mind-blowing that you would be left breathless and exhilarated for days to come.
And then it happened.
The most disappointing, embarrassing and predictable ending to a Hollywood film in years. It was the possible conclusion that crossed every viewers mind, but they brushed off, thinking, "nah, that'd be too obvious".
Why Hollywood? Why?
Now, I'm not about to get into details regarding the plot, but the basic synopsis is as follows:
Telly remembers having a son. Nobody believes her, or recalls anything about her child. Telly is treated as if she is insane. Telly knows she is not. Telly meets a friend, then triggers memories of his daughter who was supposedly killed along with her son. Telly and her newfound friend fight to prove what they know is the truth.
Sounds interesting, yes?
Well, I'm not going to hold a gun to your head, threatening to do evil things if you decide to watch this flick, but if you choose to, at least keep what I said in the back of your mind.
Unless you catch something I missed, prepare yourself for disappointment.
Thanks.
