Frank Harrington: Ray Wise
Laura Harrington: Lin Shaye
Richard Harrington: Mick Cain
Marion Harrington Alexandra Holden
Brad Miller: Billy Asher
Lady in White: Amber Smith
The film's main basic setting is in the car with these six characters. Frank and his wife Laura and the 'kids' go on a trip to the in-laws for Christmas dinner, but they never make it. Frank decides it's time not to take the interstate, and go for the backroads- The family is shocked after almost having an accident. They start to see a mysterous lady in white in the woods in the middle of the night-
If that is not weird enough they pick her up in the car to try to find her some help back at an old cabin. Marion decides she needs a little fresh air to think.
After they find out that something is killing them off, one by one- stop by stop, After each death they see a black antique look car carrying them off. With each death they start to go crazy, and the fighting begins. There is some humor in the movie.
Overall this movie is very dark. Throughout the movie is the same setting: Dark car, Long Dark Road, Tall Trees on both sides of the road. It's one of those movies where there is a total of like two different backgrounds in the whole movie, The long Road, and the hospital. If you don't like a movie that don't change scenes much this movie is not for you. I didn't mind it at all though.
After a few deaths, and 100 miles later they keep seeing this sign for Marcott. The town that never comes. After the death of her son Laura starts to lose her mind. This is one of the funny parts. After asking her daughter for a pen she draws a picture, and hands it over to Marion.
"I made a drawing of Brad, This was his leg that was hanging out, It's for you!"
They get to the point where they start to try to figure out what is happening to them to hoping they are driving on a secret military base, to telling ghost stories (an example is below).. They try to make sense of what is happing to them. This story is what Frank tells the family. They think the lady in white is a ghost~
"So there was this couple that was driving home from a wedding in Rhode Island. It was night it was raining. And they saw a little girl standing by the side of the road and she was just wondering back and forth clutching this school book in her hands. And they stopped. and they let her get in the back seat, and they tried to talk to her but she must have been in shock and they were driving down the road for a few miles, all of a sudden they heard this scream coming from the back seat . they slammed on the breaks they nearly had an accident miraculously they didn't go over they cliff. When the turned to look in the back seat they little girl had vanished, there was just her school book there, Barbara Rose, Then they remembered the whole entire rose family died at that cliff just a few years earlier."
This is one of the movies that I could watch over and over again. I like the humor. I think the suprise ending is something that I've never expected coming. I recommend renting this at first, and then if you think it's something that you could watch again, to buy it. I recommend this to anyone who likes horror movies. There are quite a few deaths thoughout the movie, and this movie will just keep you guessing on to what is going on~
So in conclusion I think it's worth watching. It's suprise ending is great. The movie is not one of those movie that feels like it takes six hours to watch. The humor, and deaths make it good to watch. Even though it only has one basic scene (the woods~) The different things that happen (i.e. a baby carriage in the middle of the road) make this movie worth watching!~
The last part of this review will describe a few points of the movie...
Scenes: The Dark Car, The woods and road scenes make this movie really scary.
Acting: I thought the acting was really good. The point of them being scared was really believeable. The characters were put together well so you really believe that they were mother and daughter, and husband and wife.
For a low budget movie I thought it was really good. The background music was really good. I recommend renting this film.
