I am a big fan of John Ritter. I was so sad when I had heard he passed away last September. Now I’ve gotten another bright idea to collect movies that he played in. So now I’m collecting music DVDs and John Ritter movies. What is my husband going to do with me?

Not long ago, I was looking around in the DVD bargain bin at Walmart. As I was searching I picked up the movie Man of Miracles. I had never heard of it, but I decided to buy it since John Ritter was one of the stars of the movie. It was $5.50 well spent.

Man of Miracles is a drama that is great for the whole family. It stars John Ritter and Meredith Baxter. It is a movie that you can sit down and watch with your kids and not have to worry about what kind of language there is going to be or if there are other inappropriate scenes. That is one of the things that I love about the movie.

The Movie:

Joe Cass and his wife Anne live in a small town called Vine Creek. He is a minister and a volunteer fireman. They have problems with their son David, as he becomes an out of control teenager. The church is vandalized by a group of teens from the town. Joe becomes discouraged with everything going on around him. One day he is called to a fire where a little boy is trapped inside. Joe fights through the fire and smoke and is able to pull the boy from the burning building. It is truly a miracle, but Joe had help.

Who was the fireman who showed him the way out of the fire? What does the town think when Joe tells them about the events in the building? What things does Joe struggle with as he thinks about his life and those around him? How do the people in the town treat him after the miracle? Does his son David change his ways? Why does the family decide to leave the small town?

The Cast:

John Ritter plays the main character Joe Cass. John made his career debut with the hit television show “Three’s Company”. After that he starred in many movies. His last role was in the TV series, 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter when he passed away suddenly on September 11, 2003. Meredith Baxter is most known for being the mom on the hit TV series, Family Times. She played the mother to Michael J. Fox. She has also starred in many movies since then. David Tom played the son, David Cass. David is most known for his role as “Billy Abbott” on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. Joanna Garcia plays the role of Joyce Case. Joanna is most known for her role as Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery on the TV hit series ”Reba”.

Final Thoughts:

I am really happy that I bought this movie. It was a great movie that I could sit down with my 9-year-old son and watch. It didn’t have any bad language or anything that I did not want him to see. The picture was great and the sound was fine also. It can be heard in Dolby Digital Stereo.

I was looking on the internet to find some information on this movie. There wasn’t much out there for me to see. I did find something interesting though. It seems that they took this same movie and re-released it in 1999 under a new name Holy Joe. I don’t know if anyone has ever heard of that being done before where you would re-release a movie under a new name. I had not heard of it before. It appears to be all the same actors and the same story line so it has to be the same movie. Man of Miracles was released in 1989. I believe that they were both released as TV movies. I did not see a rating on the DVD case, but I would say that this movie would be fine for any child to watch. So I give it a "G" rating.
