Pros: Excellent cast, great plot, moral value with comedy.
Cons: I wish I had some for you.
I began watching the movie "Hitch" expecting to see a story about a man who can help everybody else when it comes to women except himself. But this movie ends up being much more than that. This movie relates to many people, making it a very popular amongst a large widespread groups of people. We've all been in love or will be someday and this movie is very smart and has an interesting approach on the situation.
Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens (Will Smith, Six Degrees of Seperation) is the man whom people call the 'Date Doctor'. It becomes apparant that he has helped out many people before and the movie starts off with him giving men opportunities to sweep women off their feet. It also becomes apparant that 'Hitch' as suave as he may seem also once had a problem with women, but ever since he is there to help other men out. The story opens up with Hitchens most recent and probably biggest feat while helping Albert Brennamen (Kevin James, The King of Queens) a somewhat hopeless financial advisor of the woman of his dreams, Alegra Cole (Amber Valletta, Raising Helen). The catch is that Alegra Cole is very famous, but Hitch advises Brennamen and guides him to a succesful relationship with Alegra. But when Cole shows up to events with Brennamen this intrigues young reporter, Sara Melan (Eva Mendes, Stuck On You). Sara has been recently dating Hitch but she is very worried about falling in love and Hitch may just be the one for her. But troubles arise when Melan's best friend is taken advantage of by a supposed customer of the date doctor. Melan rights a gossip article in the paper about this and exposes the "real purpose" of Brennamen with Cole, making it seem like Hich was making everything happen.
This movie has such a great plot, it shows how different things work for different people (Brennamen for example, spills mustard on his shirt out of clumsiness and Cole takes that as he did it on purpose to make her not feel like a dork) and shows the real side of ladies man Hitch, who is scared of the pain of love, and pairs him with a woman who is also afraid of love. Put all those things together and there is a great movie here. Full of laughs, yet those laughs just keep this movie in perspective and allows the serious part of the movie to show but not take control. It is a very entertainging movie, well acted, excellent chemistry and a very good script. I recommend this movie for all viewers...and dare I say...this movie is the perfect date movie. It's not too sappy but will make the girls saw awwwwwwwww at the end and the guys I'm sure will have enjoyed the comedy and givin them a little inspritation. But one quote that I remember the most from the movie and will never forget and feel like everyone should pass this on:
Hitch: "Because that's what people do. They leap, and hope to God they can fly, because otherwise. you just drop like a rock, wondering the whole way down, why in the *hell* did I jump? But here I am, Sarah, falling, and the only one that makes me feel like I can fly... is you."
