The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an excellent movie for your children, Robots is a great choice that even adults can sit down, watch, and enjoy with them.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.

Out of all of the movies that I have in my collection, all of the money that I have spent attempting to create variety, my son still only wants to watch one movie... 'Robots'. It all starts as soon as he wakes up, all I hear is "Deet, Deet, Bots, Bots"... or translated, "Eat, Eat, Bots, Bots". I don't know if it's a great idea to start you children off watching movies while they are eating, but sometimes that's the only way you can get him to eat in the morning. He'll drink gallons, but getting him to shove any food down his throat, can be a huge pain. The problem is that if he doesn't eat, then he's in a bad mood all morning, so it's either Robots, or it's cranky baby. I think I'll choose the Robots every time.

The Plot
The movie is based around the main character, Rodney, who absolutely loves the Big Weld Show, which is a show based on a famous inventor in the Robot World. Thanks to the shows that Rodney would watch, he strived to become a great inventor himself, and created his own robots in order to help his dad (a dishwasher) do his work faster and more efficiently.

One day Rodney decided to head off to Robot City, the biggest city in the Robot World. He was going to go on his own to see Big Weld, become an inventor and make his father proud of him. Unfortunately, when Rodney came to the big city, he couldn't find Big Weld, and Big Weld Industries was being run by a less than friendly robot, who was just in the business for making money and was ruthless when it came to business. He believed that robots could either upgrade and buy the upgraded parts from Big Weld, or they could be melted down into new parts.

After Rodney was turned down for a job at Big Weld, he was feeling a little let down, but soon realized that there were bots everywhere in the city that were being outmoded, which meant that they were no longer making their parts, and soon enough the 'sweepers' would come to scoop them up and take them to be melted down into new bots. Rodney however, wasn't going to let this happen and began fixing bots for free, with spare parts. This of course was a big deal with Ratchet, the one in charge at Big Weld. So he would stop at nothing to destroy Rodney to keep his profits up.

Rodney realized that he couldn't do it alone, so he had to get in touch with Big Weld and see what was happening. So a series of events lead to finding Big Weld, and hearing his story and ultimately the ultimate bot battle against Ratchet to take back Big Weld Industries.

The Animations
The animations themselves are pretty impressive. In the same type of quality that you would expect from other movies such as Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, or Emperors New Groove. The animation was absolutely flawless and really shines on a high quality high definition television like the one that I have.

The Comedy
The comedy in this movie is hilarious! It's a great movie, with a lot of really funny content that you just wouldn't expect to see. Most of the humor is above the heads of children, but that is done intentionally to make it more appealing to parents, who often find themselves watching the movies with their kids. There's a good blend of adult funny along with child funny that makes this movie a whole lot of fun. I have a 19 month old and he laughs at this movie all the time. Of course he doesn't get the more adult jokes, but he definitely understands the ones geared at the kids, and he thinks they are hilarious.

Final Thoughts
This is a very well put together movie. The plot is solid and easy for children to understand, while still being adult enough that parents aren't going to be bored watch it. The humor in the movie, makes it truly a good sit down and watch movie, that even a parent could get enjoyment from. The entire robot world is made to be much like our own world, just with slight modifications made to be more functional for robots. Each robot has it's own job, which is related to the type of robot that it is. They make their own money, and they live in cities, much like our own.

The most important aspect of the movie is that my son absolutely loves it and to get a small child to sit through an entire movie, over and over, it must be great. The only other movie that he can even close to watching in entirety is Monster's Inc. and even that movie he takes several breaks to go play with his toys.
