With Spring Break Explosion, Ventura manages to avoid the monotony that plagues its sister series, Girls Gone Wild. Spring Break Explosion appeals to a broader audience by featuring guys that vary in style, build and ethnicity. It's an hour of pure delight that will satisfy almost any palette.
The editors maintain a high degree of selectivity in parsing the footage, while still managing to avoid becoming formulaic in featuring the same 'type' of guy over and over. Spring Break Explosion features more guys that are everyday-cute, as opposed to model-hot, correcting the commonly aired complaint that the original installment catered too freely to those with a taste for pretty boys and not enough to those with a taste for the 'average' guy (you know who you are). Every guy meets a certain standard of visually acceptable, but they vary to an extent in body-type, profile and personality. In fact, each guy appears to be selected to suit a particular taste. They've got what you want, whether you like abs or ass, jock or punk, dark or light.
If you're an ass-lover then you'll be in heaven with Spring Break Explosion. These butts are round, firm and utterly perfect. However, if there was one criterion that was not used in the selection of the guys, it was their penis size. These guys come in all sizes: long and short, thick and thin. This is a somewhat difficult region to quantify because the guys are *mostly* flaccid, but I believe that the editors could have been more aggressive in this area. Who cares if he's 6 feet tall if his piece is only a half-inch long? We all know that size really does matter.
The presence of the camera girls on-screen is a daring stylistic change from the original Guys Gone Wild, where the girls could be heard but not seen. Their appearance removes any doubt about the reason that these guys go wild: the girls are HOT and some of the men are clearly excited by them. However, the motivation for including them on the DVD is unclear, even if it was just to introduce a new segment. The target audiences would be gay men, who could care less about the girls, and women, who could care less about the girls. But you won't find me complaining; it heightens the appeal for individuals with a less defined preference. I thoroughly enjoyed the girls' instruction, innuendo and breasts.
The video quality is as good as it needs to be. The shaky camera work and bizarre close-ups have a truly amateur feel, giving the film a sincere voyeuristic edge. Unfortunately, most of the footage is filmed in private hotel rooms and showers, probably to avoid legal entanglement. There are scenes on the beach and in the water, enough to earn the film 5 stars but not enough to make it immortal. I couldn't think of a better contribution for the Ed_Grover Appreciation W/O. It might hardly seem like a compliment to dedicate a review of smut to someone as esteemed as Ed_Grover, but it makes sense when you think about it. There are two aspects of the Epinions community that make it fun. Firstly, there's the freedom to review whatever you can find floating in the Epinions database, symbolized by Guys Gone Wild. Secondly, and more importantly, there's the friends that make it fun to spend your time reviewing such trash, a spirit embodied by Ed Grover.
