Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
When I first heard about Wedding Crashes, I just started thinking back to the weddings that I went to and just how crazy the concept of this movie could be. I knew what I had done while at those weddings, and how easy it was to pick up on women, which is why I always attended. It was almost a guaranteed thing to pick up on whatever single woman you gave the most attention to. It was so simple, while being a little bit messed up at the same time. It was totally prying on a woman's emotions during that moment. And the older the single woman was, the easier it was to secure their company. So Wedding Crashers quickly became a must see movie for myself. If nothing else, I figured that it could help to curb my desire for taking advantage of the emotionally needy women during weddings and go back to the bar scene.

The Plot
The movie is based around two thirty somethings, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. The duo work together as divorce mediators and as such have become so against the concept of marriage, that they have decided that they don't want to end up like their clients.
Somewhere along the way, Vaughn meets up with a man who gives him a 'gift'... the gift of Wedding Crashing. This 'gift' included a list of rules that wedding crashers must follow in the process of attending weddings, and how they must proceed in matters at the wedding itself and how to act while there. The rules are in place to ensure that there is a formal plan in place to answer all questions and to ensure that the wedding crashers aren't 'figured out'.
The overall concept is for the wedding crashers to go to parties, have a blast, eat the food, drink the drinks, enjoy themselves and ultimately bring home a woman at the end of the day, who is so emotionally involved in the wedding that she loses all inhabitions and is willing to open up and give into the first good looking, sweet talking man that they meet.
Soon however, the two realize that the wedding crashing business isn't as great as it once was, and that they are falling for the women that they really only intended to spend a night with. Soon, a huge drama unfolds as everyone finds out who they are, and they try to back pedal to save face in order to save their new found relationships.
The acting
The acting was great! The combination of Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson together is perfect. You can definitely tell that they get along on and off the screen and the way that the movie was scripted, led for some hilarious dialogue that you would only expect to see between the best of friends.
The other characters in the movie, also gave huge performances to make this a truly memorable comedy. All of the actors made the movie, however ridiculous it seemed at times, extremely believable and realistic, which made it that much more hilarious.
The comedy
This movie took advantage of most every comedic opportunity that they had. The movie ran the spectrum from slap stick comedy to perverse punches. But all in all, the movie had so much going on, that it's non stop laughter from about the middle of the movie until the end.
The movie gets started out a little slow unfortunately, which is a big downside of the comedic aspect of the movie and makes it a little bit hard to get into the movie. I think that there are some missed opportunities for some laughs in the beginning as they portray Wilson and Vaughn out to be far more serious than they really are in this movie. I think by portraying them more seriously in the beginning does nothing for their characters and the outcome of the movie, it just makes for a slow start.
The scripting
This is one of the more complete scripts, with the writers thinking out every aspect of wedding crashing as if they were realistically going to do it. They figured out all of the angles that could be used, the different approaches to dealing with questions from guests such as "who they knew". They also figured out ways that would draw the attention of the women that the two were trying to meet up with, without them having to directly approach them immediately. The writing in this movie was absolutely brilliant and well thought out, covering every aspect of what wedding crashing would probably entail.
Final Thoughts
This is one of the best comedies of 2005 and probably of this decade, a must have for any collection. This is definitely not a movie for those that aren't into sexual humor, but for those of us that are extremely open minded, then it's going to be a thrill ride of a comedy for you!
The concept for the movie is hilarious and is developed extremely well, missing out only in the beginning. It takes some time to get into the meat of the movie, but once it gets there, you will be laughing non stop. The only other movie that I have laughed harder during was The Benchwarmers, which is more of a stupid comedy, than the more realistic incidental comedy of Wedding Crashers.
