Thanks for commenting.

Sounds like we were watching the same shows as kids. The '60s were a great time for TV and music.

I remember it was so popular with kids that some would even flunk a test on purpose to be part of the "F Troop" the teacher had formed to make us better students. She of course had to stop that once she realized what was going on, but it was one of the coolest shows of my early years along with "Combat" and "12 O Clock High." Great Review.

Thanks! That theme song is stuck on "play" in my mind...

I was thinking of renting the series through Netflix, assuming that it's available. Interesting coincidence that I stumbled across your review. I always liked F-Troop's theme song. Great stuff!

Dan,

Thanks for the comments. Funny how much television has changed in the last 40 years.

You really took me back in time when I read this review. I also enjoyed F Troop and was surprised to discover it was only 2 seasons, but of course, as a kid, I knew nothing of network dealings. Good writing. Best regards, Dan

Mike,

Thanks --- somehow watching these old shows makes me feel a little younger...

I was older than you when the show was on (hmm, guess I still am older than you) but I watched this show fairly faithfully. Didn't realize it was a "two year wonder" but this review sure brings back the laughs. Great job.

ABC was as quick to kill my favorites as NBC in this case. I bet the NBC execs who cancelled "Star Trek" have kicked themselves many times in the decades since that decision.

Only 2 seasons?!! Boy how I used to love that show. Must've been NBC---after all--they were able to kill Star Trek after only 3 seasons.

AJ,

Good to see you here! ...and, nope, I just don't see Eric Burdon when I look at Larry Storch... but I like both of them (does that count)...

...he reminded me (in looks) of Eric Burdon! Do you see the resemblance?

Thanks for the memories!

Hi Paul,

I think our tastes in TV and music are pretty close, amigo. Always good to hear from you!

I love "Combat!" and you've reminded that I need to pick up "The Rat Patrol" (always wanted a jeep with a machine gun on it).

Thanks to DVDs, we can program our own entertainment on TV these days!

Hope you are doing well.

Gael,

I like that quote (storing it in my memory bank for the next time someone asks me for directions!). "F Troop" was silly, but it did, and does, make me laugh.

I think we're probably a lot alike in that we like these old shows. I am very, very glad many of these are coming out on DVD.

I just recently bought season I of THE RAT PATROL and I now have all five seasons of COMBAT!

Well done, as always!

I think you're right about that, Don....I remember him as the voice of "Bullwinkle" too. I loved F-Troop too....still remember one line from it all this time that struck me as so funny even as a kid:

"Turn left at rock that looks like bear and right at bear that looks like rock."

So silly, but so funny! Thanks Don.

Fun series (no matter how short-lived) and fun review, too. Enjoyed it (as I reminisced, 'tho I was much too young to remember [LOL])!

Dave,

Thanks for the comments. I used to be a big fan of all the Irwin Allen shows like "The Time Tunnel." The special effects and dialogue haven't held up well, but they remain a guilty pleasure. I hope you review the show.

Jan,

I think Mr. Horton also provided a narration voice to some segments of "Bullwinkle" in the '60s. It's interesting that he was so active late in laugh.

The first thing that hit me while I was reading your review was, "only TWO seasons????" I used to love that show! I'm just a few years older than you (will be 52 in a couple of weeks) so we share a lot of the same memories with music and T.V. shows.

Funny, I just put "The Time Tunnel" on my Netflix queue and my 13 yr old son and 10 yr old daughter have been really enjoying the episodes. After the first disk was finished my son said, 'Dad, you gotta get that second disk so I can see what happens at Pearl Harbor!'

I'm really enjoying watching Time Tunnel again but it's SO amazing how phony the effects and fighting are as well as the dialogue: "Ray, we have to transfer them now! Get a time fix and lock!"
"I can't, we'll KILL them if we try that now!!!!"

hahaah

can't help but love it!

Are you saying this E E Horton was in his eighties when he played in this show?? WOW. I hardly saw any repeats of it so don't remember the chicken.

Hi Kevin,

Like "Gilligan's Island," the show never went off the air in reruns, so it does seem like it lasted forever. Thanks for commenting.

Unbelievable...I would've said five or six!

Great review. Great memories from childhood, too. My older brothers understood the humor more than I did at the time but still....good times!

Enjoy your weekend.
