The Greatest Game Ever Played, starring Shia Labeouf, is a good movie. Most movies are. But is it the greatest movie ever made?

This movie is about a boy named Francis (living in old Boston way back when) who has a passion and natural talent for golf. However, he is a poor farm boy, and golf was a sport for so-called “gentlemen”. But Francis found ways to pay entrance fees and makes his way up to the world-wide championship as the US’s last chance of winning the trophy.

This movie was okay, but not the best. It was really slow-going at times, and the beginning is kind of confusing, or at least for small children. Since it is set back in the olden days, it IS old fashioned, making dialog, setting, and actions harder to understand then most movies.

Also, at the beginning, there is little to no humor, also making the movie seemed more slow paced. But half-way through the movie, Francis (Shia) picks up a short, fat kid as a caddy. The little boy adds the optimism and comedy to this film.

Some people say that sport movies are predictable, and yes, this is one of them. I was watching it with some others and we could totally guess what was going to happen. But I won’t reveal that to you.

This film appeals more towards golf-loving boys. I, honestly, don’t understand golf well enough to respect everything in this movie. But it was heart-warming and comical, so it was okay. Just not the best movie I’ve ever seen. It’s a long movie, too. Too long for the message and what happens, in my opinion. Again, VERY predictable.

But see for yourself. Personally, it WASN’T the best.
