I took my 4 children to see Nanny McPhee. My older boys, ages 7 and 10 really loved it. My younger boys ages 4 and 2 did not. My 4 year old was quite scared by the nanny herself and some of the scenes. My husband and I thought the movie was predictable and just ok.
The nanny is quite disgusting looking when she first arrives. As the children begin to behave better she loses some of her ugliness. By the end of the movie the nanny is beautiful.
I did find some scenes quite upsetting for my children. The children in the movie are really awful. The make huge messes in the house, tie up the cook, put the baby in a huge pot with gravy, and destroy the entire house. These are all scenes that I really did not want my children to see. There are a few other scenes in the movie that are not great for young children (scenes of dead bodies in a morgue).
Think twice before bringing children under 5 to this movie!!
