Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
If I could, I would like to direct your attention to the "Uncensored" word in the title. This DVD is rated R for major language and adult situations. Since this is a family site I won't be able say much about this DVD. If you are familiar with Pamela Anderson, you will know why.
What is a Roast?
A roast is when a group of people who know the individual get together and take turns saying things publicly which could be an insult, truth, lie, insult, or praise. Since this was a Comedy Central presentation it was of course very funny and very rude.
Who is Pamela Anderson
The beginning of the DVD summarizes who Pam Anderson is. She is famous for many things. She has been on the cover of Playboy 11 times, played in Baywatch, ex-wife of Tommy Lee, key participant in a scandalous bedroom movie that leaked out, and so forth.
I do not know too much about Pam Anderson other than "those are not real." I imagine she has more talent than she is given credit for. Being the center of a roast such as this is actually an honor though I am sure this wasn't her idea. She did a lovely job sitting there just looking pretty without getting offended or hurt. I am sure it wasn't comfortable sitting in the hot seat.
Pam Anderson agreed to do this roast as a fundraiser for PETA, an organization that helps animals.
What was Pam wearing?
I suppose Pam looked good though I did not like her outfit or the way she did her hair. She was wearing a top but "clearly" nothing under it. One of the funny things that I remember was when Nick DiPaolo said, "You were born in Canada, but your implants were made in America and that's good enough."
The Speakers in the Roast
The speakers in the roast were: Jimmy Kimmel, Tommy Lee, Adam Carolla, Eddie Griffin, Sarah Silverman, Jeffrey Ross, Nick DiPaolo, Andy Dick, Greg Giraldo, Bea Arthur, Elon Gold, Lisa Lampanelli, Lady Bunny, Courtney Love-Cobain.
It is very difficult not to roast the roasters in this review. They make Pamela look like a saint. I did not think the speakers were very funny. I guess each of them said something funny, after all they were talking trash. I think since this was a planned show they could have branched out a little especially since there's so much material to work with.
Did Courtney Love steal Pam Anderson's fire or what? Geez, Courtney was roasted quite a bit more than Pam Anderson was. What an embarrassment. Sarah Silverman was a hoot when she said, "I'm so glad Courtney Love is here, I left my crack in my other purse." Courtney claims that she's been off drugs for a year. I don't think she counted the night this show was filmed.
It is not uncommon in a roast for the speakers to be a target as well. Everyone who spoke on this DVD was also roasted to some extent. In fact, I think more roasting was done of the speakers than of Pam. The things that were said about everyone else made Pam Anderson look like a hero.
Overall
I guess this was a pretty good roast. Not even knowing much about Pam I was able to follow all the jokes. I don't think the remarks were very original but when you're roasting it doesn't take much for the comments to be funny. I think they spent too much time talking about the same issues. A couple speakers were good, most were not.
My time, however, would be better spent elsewhere. I am not a fan. This is more of a tribute to Pam Anderson rather than a slam. I'm sure people who really like her would enjoy the show better.
This may not be surprising, but I would say 99% of the jokes were related to her upper or lower feminine parts. If that's what you want to hear about, you may like the show better than I did.
