Pros:a hot show that keeps my interest
Cons:soap opera...addicting
The Bottom Line: If you let your teens watch it, watch it with them.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.

We don't watch television very much here in the land of Pantazis5. Mostly we are working and going to our after school and evening commitments.

At my work I have been listening to staff as they discuss "Grey's Anatomy". It seemed to be a favorite show among the teachers and counselors at my work. On Friday mornings teachers come to work and in the breakroom I hear countless conversations and deep sighs about McDreamy and McSteamy. Never really understanding the fervor.

Then one day, just before a four day weekend. I mentioned that I had no plans and I was going to stay home and hang out with my daughter. Well, in my mailbox just before I left work I found Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy.

One of the young teachers had placed it there. I smiled and dropped it into my backpack as I left. I really didn't expect to watch it.

That evening my sons were having a sleepover with a friend and my husband was working. My daughter and I were alone and we were both laying around in the family room trying to find something to watch on television. I remembered the DVD for Season 1 of Grey in my backpack and I went to get it. My daughter popped it into the DVD player for us. (I still get upset with the DVD player, I am a diehard when it comes to VCR, I understand that much better than DVD players.

We watched the first episode. Mostly we watched with our mouths open. We were hooked within the first 15 minutes. Neither one of us wanted to admit that we had been hooked to a soap opera, but we were. We kept watching. Keeping in mind that the show is currently into its third season, and we were watching the first season on DVD for the first time we enjoyed the ability to keep watching the 9 44 minute episodes on the single disc.

The first scene of the first episode is smutty and sexy and I was more than a bit alarmed at myself that I was watching this with my daughter. However, as we watched the drama in the emergency rooms and the hospital surgery rooms we both became completely engrossed in the lives of these young interns.

Meredith Grey is the daughter of the famous Dr. Grey, now in a nursing home with alzeimers. No one but Meredith is aware of her mother's condition and Meredith hides her secret well. Meredith is in love with Derek, a surgeon and Meredith's boss. Also known as McDreamy.

Then there is Christina. Christina is a young robot like intern. She never shows feeling. She is competitive and strong, or so we think. She is sleeping with Dr. Burke another major surgeon and her boss!

Then there is Izzy. Izzy is a blonde and beautiful intern who paid for her medical schooling by posing as a model. She is an intern and Alex another intern took great joy in discovering that Izzy had once been a model. Alex and Izzy seem to despise each other.

Last but definitely not least is intern George. George is a nice young intern. George, Izzy and Meredith live together in a house they share. The house belonged to Meredith's mother.

Dr. Bailey is the resident at Seattle Grey. She is in charge of the five interns. Dr. Bailey is amazing. She is blunt, strong, and caring. She knows her stuff and she is full of common sense that makes everyone stop and think.

Grey's Anatomy is a soap opera. It airs on Thursday evenings at 9 on ABC and then again on Fridays at 8. You can download the show onto your computer if you miss episodes. Season 1 DVD contains the first 9 episodes. If you have never seen the show, you will want to get this disc and watch it first.

This show contains sex, drama, some violence. You will get caught up into the lives of these doctors and find yourself wondering about the doctors you know! You will feel many emotions as you watch these people perform miracles and then jump into bed with each other!

But be aware, that once you watch the first 9 episodes in succession you will have to see season 2 and then you will want season 3 which is on television now!

This is first time I have ever watched an entire season of a show that I did not have to have commercials and I did not have to wait a week to see the next show end in a cliff hanger. It made me spoiled. Now that I am up to date with the show and watching season 3 episodes I hate waiting a week for the next episode!

As for my daughter, she loves the show. She looks forward to the next episodes just like I do and we laugh and talk about McDreamy. We watch it together, we talk about it and we laugh about it. I would not want her watching it alone because there is a lot of questionable content. This DVD affords us the opportunity to watch it together, and discuss many issues.

I remember when I was a kid watching General Hospital with my parents. I think back to my "I love Luke" button that I wore on my coat and now my daughter has a Grey's Anatomy ringtone on her phone. The only difference really is that General Hospital was on in the daytime and was a lot less graphic in those days. Grey's Anatomy is on at night, once a week, and is as graphic as our society will allow during primetime.

My daughter and I both laughed out loud the other day, when my young 11 year old son announced that he intended to grow up and become a surgeon.
