Cons: Same old storyline, certain scenes are predictable
The Bottom Line: If you haven't watch any of the Final Destination sequel, start with this one. If you have, you might not want to miss this one out too, right?
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
In the original Final Destinations, Alex Chance Browning (Devon Sawa) saved his mates from plane crash, only to have them killed one by one in freakish accidents. Then in Final Destination 2,Kimberly Corman (lovely A.J. Cook) saved strangers from their destined deaths in the freeway pileup with her premonition, but not her friends. They were all dead in the car crash.
Here, Death is back for more. This time, it involves taking the lives of young teens. The chosen one to foresee the whole gruesome deaths is Wendy Christensen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The tragedy this time is a freak roller-coaster accident in the beginning and train crash in the end, which both are foreseen by Wendy. In the beginning, we could see Wendy with a digicam, taking pictures of almost everyone she knows at the amusement park. You'll later on find clues as to how the teens will die from the pictures.
If you've watched the two previous sequels of Final Destination, you'll be able to predict and sort of know what's going to happen next in this one. There's nothing new in this one. Those who escaped deaths in the roller-coaster will be visited by Death later on, one by one until the very last one.
The difference this time are obviously the casts and also how they die. The thing that really gets on my nerve is how Wendy is so driven into finding out how her friends are going to die rather than saving them. She has all the clues. However, she is observing it more than she actually tries to rescue anyone except her sister, Julie Christensen (Amanda Crew) and her boyfriend's buddy, Kevin Fischer (Ryan Merriman). You'll know what I mean when you watch it. I was practically screaming "Tell them what's going to happen!" but then again, the movie won't be fun that way hey.
Similar to Final Destination 2, there's a brief mention about Flight 180. I was kind of expecting that after Kevin told Wendy about Flight 180, he'll say something about how Kimberly Corman (from Final Destination 2) cheated Death when she attempted suicide. While the victims in Final Destination 2 had some sort of connections with the victims in the original Final Destination, we don't see any connections between Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 3.
You would think that Wendy will know how to cheat Death but you'll be quite disappointed that she has no idea what is really going on, unlike Alex Browning and Kimberly Corman who were aware of what they should do next. By the way, some of the deaths in Final Destination 3 are quite hilarious but I was the only one laughing 'cause my friends think it's horrible to laugh at deaths.
Overall, I would say that Final Destination 3 is better than Final Destination but Final Destination 2 will always remain as the best Final Destination sequel for me.
