TIM MCGRAW ON A HORSE..
I am a huge Tim McGraw fan and could not wait to see this movie. He did not totally disappoint me but I must admit that he does have more charisma on stage while singing than trying to follow this script. I would not totally blame him for it though, how much arguing can a father (Tim) go through with a 27 year old beauty who is supposed to be his 16 year old daughter!
Alison Lohman really acts a great role here, it is not her fault that she is not 16 anymore. Just to see her on a horse with her hair blowing in the wind in sync with her horse is to many enough of a reason to see this film. Producers are banking on the image too and the picture on the movie poster is well done.
The wild horse tamed on a round pen by Alison as Katie, the rebellious daughter of a rancher, is quite ridiculous and downright stupidly taped in my mind, but I bet it will hit home with plenty young girls watching this movie.
Maria Bello acts a solid role as a mother but does not shine on my mind. She was also in the 2006 hit movie World Trade Center.
It does not help that I did read stories about two horses which died during the shooting an it gave plenty bad publicity and nearly halted the whole film shoot.
There is some beautiful scenes in this movie and it does make me want to visit Wyoming and ride to the sunset and find my mystery cowboy! Unfortunately beautiful people and great landscape are not supported with a worthy screenplay.
Tim McGraws latest hit "My Little Girl" which is climbing up in the charts, pretty much includes the best parts of the movie on its video.
Music on the movie was to me quite disappointing, it seems like Tim is going through a soft and slow season, I like his more up beat hits. But no matter what he sings his voice IS like liquid gold and gets my attention anyway.
This movie did not totally plummet in the box office, it does have over 20 million made and I bet it will be much bigger hit on a DVD which will be released in February 2007.
I must admit I had high expectations for this movie and was bit disappointed in the end but I will still buy the DVD and make it an afternoon movie to watch with my whole family with plenty of popcorn and soda.
And if you do have a young horse lover in your family she will most likely be sold and that IS the true audience for this film even though my husband did not mind staring at Alison Lohman throughout this film! And I must admit that Tim Mcgraw does look stunning with his chaps and cowboy hat..
Aussie youngster Ryan Kwanten deserves special mention as Katies brother Howard. He will get some girls to skip a heartbeat or two and I predict we will see plenty more of him in the future.
So if you are NOT looking for a deep movie with complicated unexpectable script this remake of 1943 movie My Friend Flicka is worth watching.
