Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie''s plot.
Elton John had been performing since 1970, he has and still does entertain us with his music and most of all his live concerts. I have been to two of Eltons concerts and both were outstanding. He is the ultimate showman and you can see the enjoyment he receives from entertaining the crowd. With Elton John Dream Ticket you are treated to some of Eltons greatest concert performances, including rare footage from his incredible career. This is truly a set for any fan of Elton John and his music.
Elton John Dream Ticket
Disc One New York Madison Square Garden
You are treated to Eltons live performance at Madison Square Garden on October 21, 2000. His great catalogue of music is run through and you are treated to a succession of guest stars such as Billy Joel, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Adams, Ronan Keating, Anastacia and Kiki Dee. Elton is dressed in Versace and is in true Elton form. The band is great and as I said Elton is in top form and he performs his hits including:
Candle In The Wind, Bennie and the Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Billy Joel joins Elton on stage for this song), Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Philadelphia Freedom, Tiny Dancer, Can You Feel The Love Tonight?, Daniel, Rocket Man, I Guess Thats Why They Call It The Blues (Mary J. Blige joins Elton on stage for this great song), The One, Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word, Sacrifice, Come Together, Your Song (Ronan Keating joins Elton on stage for this one), Sad Songs Say So Much(Sings with Bryan Adams), Im Still Standing, Crocodile Rock, Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting (Elton with Anastacia), The B_tch is Back, Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me and Dont Go Breaking My Heart (Kiki Dee joins Elton for this song).
All in all you are treated to an outstanding performace by Elton and a few of his best friends. The highlight is Elton and Billy Joel with their pianos placed cheek to cheek and their great harmonies are the highlight of this great DVD.
Disc Two Live At The Royal Opera House in London
Elton and his band are accompanied by Londons Royal Academy of Music Orchestra and Choir. This live performance was taped on December 1, 2002 at the Royal Opera House in London. With the orchestra and choir in the background Eltons music takes on a little different flavor here. You will see that Eltons music can be at home even in the classical world. Once again you will be treated to some of Elton Johns great music with a little different sound and some songs that I have never heard before.
Songs that are included in this marvelous show are: Sixty Years On, Take Me To The Pilot(GREAT SONG), This Train Dont Stop There Anymore(best song on the DVD), Carla Etude, Tonight, Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word, Philadelphia Freedom, Burn Down The Mission, Dont Let the Sun Go Down On Me, Your Song(wonderfully done!), and Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting.
This is a different Elton than I had ever seen in concert, but very enjoyable. It is a great DVD to include in this boxed set and I am very glad that I have it.
Disc Three Ephesus, Turkey The Great Amphitheatre
This great concert was filmed on July 17, 2001 and is my favorite of this set. The outdoor setting is beautiful in the ruins of Ephesus, Turkey. There is no band here, just the man(Elton) and his piano. This is Elton John at his best and simplest, he is dressed in black and during this performance his piano playing and singing are all that you have to concentrate on. I have seen Elton live on stage with just his piano, no band, no backup singers and let me tell you I prefer to see him this way. You get to see how talented this man really is. This is the best show in the DVD Set.
Of course once again you are treated to twenty-one of his greatest hits such as Daniel, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatter, Honk_y Cat, Rocket Man, Sacrifice, Circle of Life (from the Lion King) and he ends the show with Candle in the Wind. Most of the songs in the first performance are also included in this great show.
I have said this before, but cannot emphasize enough that this is Elton John at his best. If you ever have the chance to see him live with just his piano, get a ticket and go you will be glad you did.
Disc Four Elton In Four Decades
This disk allow you to see four decades of Eltons stage costumes, exclusive interviews and Elton talking at length about his four decades of songs. You are also treated to twelve songs divided by decades.
Included in this DVD are Your Song, Rocket Man, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters that are included in the 1970s series of this dvd. The 1980s are highlighted by Im Still Standing, I Guess Thats Why They Call It The Blues and Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny). The songs of the 90s include Sacrifice, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Believe. The last section of music on this disc treat you to some of the best Elton songs of 2000 including I Want Love, This Train Dont Stop Here Anymore and Are You Ready for Love. This disc is a walk down memory lane that you wont soon forget.
Final Thoughts
All in all, the Dream Ticket provides you with over 70 songs and 7 hours of concerts and interviews from Elton Johns career. This DVD set is the ride of a lifetime for any Elton John fan and must have for your collection. Prepare yourself for the ultimate ride of your life with Elton John Dream Ticket,
