Pros: a couple sweet moments, a couple soft chuckles
Cons: ruined by too much potty humor, rude, crude, gross! Not worth a single star!
The Bottom Line: a couple spots were cute or funny, but this is just a string of toilet jokes loosely held together by a stupid story with big holes in it
busby777's Full Review: Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector
Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
Somebody gave me this DVD, and they must hate me.
I simply cannot recommend this movie for anyone, anywhere, at any time. It would be more entertaining to watch someone cleaning out belly-button lint. This movie is not worth buying, and it is not worth renting. It is not even worth watching someone elses copy for free. What a waste of 89 minutes!
Larry the Cable Guy bombs out in Health Inspector, where he tries to see how many substances can be spewed out of various body orifices (the big holes referred to in the bottom line).
Even if you happen to like potty humor, you will get bored after a few minutes.
Too bad. This could have been a good story.
Boy meets girl, falls for girl, gets girl.
Restaurants compete for a big prize, and some underhanded sabotage taints the contest. Bureaucrats object to Larrys uncouth appearance and unconventional work practices, but he gets the job done.
Those elements could have produced a successful comedy, but Larry simply could not resist the temptation to expel, expectorate, excrete, eruct, flatulate, and generally eject every sort of body fluid at any and all times. Some of the other characters do the same.
I do not understand the PG13 rating. If this were a drama, it certainly would have been rated R, but I guess that it is okay to make jokes about sex. Even though there is no real nudity, other than Larrys ugly thighs, the language is filthy, just like the scene with Larry sitting on the toilet.
Even worse, Larry makes his insulting jokes at the expense of Southerners, African Americans, overweight people and the mentally and physically disabled. Larry is really a character created by comedian Dan Whitney from Nebraska. This Midwesterner fakes a southern accent. I do enjoy Jeff Foxworthys redneck jokes, which he presents with an obvious love for the people he is making fun of. Larrys jokes, on the other hand, are crude and offensive examples of hateful stereotypes, as are the jokes about overweight, ethnicity and disability.
I agree with Jane's mother when she calls Larry an example of what happens to you if you do not eat right.
I did not understand the purpose of the guy in the wheelchair who was faking his disability. Did he do it to get promoted within the Health Department? What was the reason for making him a close relative of the crooked restaurateur? This character left some gaps that need to be filled in. I believe that he was thrown into the story for the sole purpose of having Larry spill ice water into his lap.
The kooky neighbor that Larry dismisses as retarded could have been more interesting, if he had more screen time and some interaction with the other characters. As it is, he seems to have been thrown into the mess for the sole purpose of giving Larry an excuse to insult the mentally disabled.
Similarly, Larry thinks that his new partner is a man, just so the movie can include some crude jokes about womens breasts.
The whole thing is a waste of good film. I need a bath, just from thinking about this filthy pile of garbage!
I do wish that I could give it ZERO stars.
The only decent moment in the film was when Kid Rock appeared and invited Larry to go fishing, and even that was ruined by a fantasy about cheap sex.
