This was a great treat for us boomers seeking shelter from the cold. I had just watched a special on Billy Strayhorn and the problem with discrimination in the music industry which helped put this movie in historical perspective.

I have to agree with all the positive comments about Jennifer Hudson's performance. Very talented young lady who held her own with the other big names of this film.

Having grown up during the years this film covers, it was like a trip down my musical memory lane. The race issue was nicely played out. It was treated as being as important, but realistic as was the issue of greed and corruption in the music industry. It was presented as the reality and then they moved on.

The acting of Jamie Fox and Eddy Murphy was impressive but didn't overshaddow that of the ladies in this film. I haven't seen the musical this was based on, but it sounds like it was true to the orignal script.

The story is loosly based upon the rise of Mowtown Records, The Supremes, and James Brown.

I found my legs keeping beat with the music and my eyes watering on several occasions. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon was spent by all.
