When I purchased my new Motorola Xoom 4G LTE I knew I would need a protective case for it, so I purchase the Motorola Xoom 89448n Case/Stand for my new unit.    It is well worth the price, $20, for such good protection plus it provides a stand if you are typing or just don't want to hold the piece while web searching, movie watching, or reading a book.

It fits around the tablet snuggly with a snap lock system.    This protects your tablet from every day abuse but you certainly couldn't throw it across the room and not expect damage.   Not that you should do that anyway.   It is made with a matte finish leather and, when opened, can be folded completely back or you can use the convenient slots to stand your tablet up at different angles to facilitate better viewing.

Be advised that this unit is extremely difficult to open the first few times and almost impossible to release the tablet at first, once you do get it open,  to sit it in one of the viewing docks.    That being said, after my first few attempts I found it easier each time to open and release the tablet.    Maybe we got accustomed to each other.

One of the down falls of this particular unit is the fact that I am a lap user [isn't that where the word laptop came from?] and find the case gives a little and sometimes causes the tablet to slip from the dock.    It also tends to bounce around a little when I am typing.   I guess I just have to get used to using a lighter touch.  Of course the other big bummers are the fact that in order to take a picture you have to hold the unit up with the case dangling to snap the photo or video AND you have to have the case fully open to charge the tablet.

Since it only docks in the horizontal position, I have to either hold it, with the cover folded back, to read a book or elect to read it in horizontal.   then again, I guess you are getting pretty lazy when you can't hold a book, aren't you?    I haven't tried sitting it vertically and see if it will stay in position while I read, so now I've got that challenge to look forward to.   However the horizontal is great for watching movies or videos.

A soft damp cloth wipes it down.   I use an almost dry cloth for this ... just in case, I don;t want any seepage through to the tablet.     Despite its few drawbacks, I have still been happy with this smaller, compact, house for my tablet.

thanks,
Susi
