Pros:Longer than any other, and holds a good line

Cons:Greenside Manners?----I gotcha mannahs right heah pal!

The Bottom Line: I simply have not hit a longer ball anywhere. Will Rezin stay legal?

You Better Slow Your Mustang Down

This ball has just about everything I like about The Nike One RZN, except for some of the finer greenside manners. Still, these balls were built for mid-cappers, and many a mid-capper plays bump and run, so greenside spin isn’t always a top priority. If you are one of those folks who prefers the Pro V1X over the Pro V1, and you can give up a touch of greenside spin in exchange for some serious distance, this may be just what the doctor ordered. I like this ball a lot for my Woods and Mid-Irons, but my Short Irons, Wedges, and Putter were left more than just a llittle underwhelmed.
Still-this has to be the longest ball I have ever hit. It is definitely longer than its corporate sibling “One RZN” ball, and that ball was already the longest ball I have ever hit. Because this ball is even longer than that, I really fear for its future considering how the USGA is proclaiming anything beyond a balata covered ball and a hickory shafted club as illegal and non-conforming for making the game “easier.” The Nike RZN line is the biggest improvement I’ve seen in ball yardage since the day Bridgestone started marketing balls under their own corporate moniker, and ran the famous “Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom” campaign with the John Lee Hooker song as their anthem. This ball is easily the longest ball I have hit all season, and that includes some of the old 2 piece distance balls. There might be something to all this RZN hype after all.

Distance-5 Stars
My war club absolutely loves this ball above all others. I am not saying that the Srixons, Titleists, and others I have been playing aren’t good or even great. I am simply saying that this is the smoothest feeling distance ball I’ve ever hit, as well as the longest. Still, as far as an all around ball, well, that’s where your TaylorMade, Titleists, and Srixons come in, but that’s a different set of reviews altogether. Suffice it to say, that if you play a multi-layer ball, need a lot of distance, and don’t need a urethane cover, this ball is perhaps the best alternative. My driver loves it, and I can legitimately say that this ball is good for 10-15 yards more on average than my current 3 piece.

Fairway Metals, Hybrids, and Long Irons-5 Stars
My 3 and 5 woods think this ball is the real deal. In fact, I brought along a hybrid and a 7 iron, despite the duplication in my bag, just to see if this ball would help the average weekend warrior drop the driver from the bag and still compete. My 3 Wood is a Bobby Jones Model and with my current 97MPH Driver Swing Speed, I was able to get the 3 wood to go a solid and consistent 225 yards. For most mid-cappers playing from the white tees---that is a decent enough distance to take the driver completely out of the equation. The 5 wood (an old Sonartec) garnered me 200 and my 7 Wood, a Cally 2004 Big Bertha clocked in a solid 185. These clubs were all gaining a good 10 yards vs. my current ball. Last but not least, my hybrid was good for 175-180 yards. This ball could seriously play well for course management if one were to realize the advantages of extra distance, and not get greedy. A swing within oneself that goes the distance and stays in the fairway is a lot better than one when you are trying to swing out of your shoes in order to get 10 more yards than you get when you swing out of your shoes and land in the drink or the woods. (No these balls do not float.)
My mid irons liked these balls because they added the same 10 yards, and made the greens that much more accessible. The lone long iron I carry, an old Mizuno 2 Iron for ball testing, also performed the patented Tiger Stinger with great aplomb. That’s good news for all you long distance bump and runners, but it is also the beginning of where this ball starts to meet its limitations.

Short irons and Wedges-3 Stars
Let’s face it, extra distance is fun, but it does have its limitations. I’d gladly give back the 10 yards on my wedges in order to heighten both the trajectory and spin. Unless you are one of those guys/gals that can open up the club face (without losing accuracy) and can put enough cut spin on the ball from any lie in order to make it skyrocket, and backspin itself to a stop, this ball may be a bit too lively for you. Hey, I thought it was great that I could hit a Sand Wedge 96 yards into the green (Without skulling or blading it for a change). What I didn’t think was so great was watching said ball go dancing half way across the green after landing 3 feet in front of the hole. This happened on more than one occasion, including a 65 yarder with my Lob Wedge. Still, if it were possible for this old dog to relearn some old bump and run tricks, I could see where this ball could be great fun on a Links Style Course.

Flat Stick -- 4 Stars
Hey this is a good ball for putting with, but it does give itself away as a not ready for prime time player in a few important aspects. For openers, it is awfully lively coming off the face. It took me the front nine to adjust to that liveliness. For a while there, I was purposely hitting the ball off the toe in order to soften the blow and slow this hot rod down. Still, at impact it does have a touch of ball cling. Not a lot, but it is present. It makes for an acceptable tactile cue. The audible cue is a touch deceptive however. It is a nice slightly muted “click” at impact, but the ball  pops off the face none the less. The big redeeming factor is that, as with all thr other clubs, this ball holds the line tremendously well. That makes it a little harder to play the breaks with, but by the end of a couple of rounds, I’m pretty sure I could learn to adjust to it.

Overall-4 Stars

I could easily see myself upgrading my rating on these later if they go on sale. For now let's just say that if you prize distance above all else, this ball is a dream come true. It holds a line well, and it makes getting to the green more accessible for your average mid capper. Holding that green, however,  is a different matter altogether, unless you are a very good bump and run player. I ,however, am not, and therefor prefer its corporate sibling Nike One RZN ball. If you are a good bump and run player, and play a lot of Links Style Courses, and need some more distance---try this little rocketship out. It's quite the projectile.
