This is a camera that lives up to the Nikon name. Quality optics, solid body and a familiar feel for those who have film Nikons. I'm impressed with the sharpness and resolution of 12 Megapixels, the outstanding color and the flexibility of the settings.I've gotten rave reviews of the job site shots I take for color and sharpness. I like the eye level finder which was one of the main reasons I went to a DSLR. Catching birds in flight or small animals moving quickly is diffucult if you cannot see the viewfinder as is the case with many LCD panels. The ability to automaticallly bracket up to plus or minus 2 full stops makes it easy to do HDR images.I have lenses and accessories for my older film Nikon that I'm using with this camera successfully. The two lenses that came with the kit, an 18-55 and a 55-200 fit most photo requirements. The longer lens is good for wildlife shots and the shorter for candid groups and wide angle shots. The flash is fine for close work, but if you are doing serious photography, you will want a more powerful unit. Fortunately, the hot shoe takes many of the Digital strobes and the better ones integrate nicely with the cameras software. One caveat, be careful with the remote shutter release as the contacts are fragile. Spend the extra for the Nikon part or you will likely regret it.Good camera for the photo buff or a spare for a pro.
