Pros:Easy to use, healthy snacks and meals, not-pricey.
Cons:Plates hard to clean, can dribble down the sides.
The Bottom Line: Easy to use, a 12 year old can make quesadillas. Looks like most models are nearly the same, so shop for best price.
Merry Christmas! Early this season, our Santa Fe quesadilla maker bought the big one, seems the plastic wore out and would not longer work so Santa brought us an early Christmas present, an 8" Electric Quesadilla Maker, by Nostalgia Electrics, model EQM 200 and hopefully, the shelf life will be a bit longer than the Santa Fe.

The Nostalgia Brand name is listed under the Quesadilla Fiesta logo and is available at Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, we got ours on sale at Wal-Mart for under $20 earlier, after Thanksgiving. Be sure to shop, you can save up to $10, as I have seen the price at $30 at Home Depot, on-line under $20.
I was not sure when I purchased our original Santa Fe, as they looked messy (they are), hard to clean (yes), and duplicate sandwich maker efforts (quite possible) but my two boys ages 12 and 16 love to use the machine for dinner and snacks! Two tortillas, cheese, chicken, ground beef, refried beans, all in supply cooked in the refrigerator, they are ready to go! Almost self-service for the boys, making our lives easier! It is a simple to use machine, fun and fairly harmless, along with healthy snacks and meals. We have only used the machine for quesadillas so I cannot comment on other uses.
COST: The Wal-Mart deal for the Nostalgia Electric, Quesadilla Fiesta model was $19. The machine is nearly disposable, under $20, if you get a couple of years use out of it, I am happy. Shop, as there are pricier options out there.
SIZE: The quesadilla maker is an easily stored size, 10" x 11" x 5" and can be stored on its side. Does not take up much space, plus weighs less than 4 pounds, not heavy. The 8" tortilla size means 8", do not try to go larger than that.
COOKING PLATES: The plates are not removable, so cleaning is an issue, however they are non-stick, very durable, making cleaning near the sink, fairly easy. The plates have ridges, creating sectional pieces for sharing or easy eating. We still use a pizza cutter when necessary for a cleaner cut, when put on the plate.
HEALTHY COOKING: Because the cooking plates are non-stick, no oil is needed. You control the ingredients in your quesadilla, veggie, cheese only, heavy fiber, and chicken can all be added, making sure diet is on track. Do not "load" the cheese on, as it cooks over the edge, making a mess, and clean up difficult, just a couple of ounces for a perfect quesadilla. Cooks in 3 to 5 minutes for a hot, healthy snack or meal. I have made ham and cheese quesadillas and taken to work for lunch, microwave to warm up--similar to a hot pocket.
OTHER FEATURES: The lids lock, to help cooking time and speed. There is a power light and a ready light for ease of cooking, helpful, instead of a timer. A little clean up cup slides in and out for easy cleaning. Outside is easy to clean by wiping off. Be careful with the inside plates. 90 day warranty, made in China. A few recipes were included in the direction pamphlet.
RECOMMENDATION: While it is not a rip roaring success story, it is a good product at a good price, seems durable, plus our boys eat healthier because it is easy to use! Under $20, go and get it!
