Pros:Good coverage, evens skin tone, wears well, natural finish, comparable to MAC
Cons:Not quite as dewy as I would like, costlier then other drugstore foundations
The Bottom Line: NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Soft Beige has good coverage, is long wearing, and looks very natural. Definitely as good as high end makeup for me.
I bought a bunch of NYX cosmetics recently and one I wasn't too sure about when i chose it was NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Soft Beige (HDF02). I am happy to report that like it quite a bit although I would prefer if it were just a touch more hydrating.

About the Product
Our most advanced foundation uses light-diffusing ingredients that render skin smooth, poreless and flawless—even under most high-definition technology. HD Studio Photogenic Foundation is also infused with tri-peptides that promote collagen production, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help rejuvenate skin. Ideal makeup for everyday use, professional shoots or anytime you’re in the spotlight. Available in 8 shades.
This foundation comes in a simple 1.20 ounce plastic bottle with a plastic cap and a pump top. It does come boxed in black touting the makeup as talc free, paraben free, mineral enriched and "high definition". The shade Soft Beige is a neutral medium shade that matches my medium skin well. I don't see an orange cast as many foundations can have when in this middle range of shades. The formula is of medium consistency and only a couple of pumps are needed to cover my face and neck.
I never really understood what high definition makeup was but apparently, it is vital for models and actors who have their pictures taken often. The makeup enhances the skin and makes them look radiant in harsh lighting. In real life, it seems like any other good makeup to me.
NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Soft Beige is the second deepest of the eight shades offered. It's really hard to tell on a computer screen so I just went with the shade name as natural, soft, and sand beiges usually work well with my skin tone. It matches my skin now but will be a bit too light if I get some color in the sun.
This foundation pumps out - a must for me to keep bacteria to a minimum. It is silky and applies easily with a damp sponge or my fingers. I don't use a brush to apply foundation.
The coverage is medium but can build to a bit heavier. It doesn't cover everything though so, if you need something with full coverage, this foundation may not be for you. However, it does cover small spots, discolorations, and evens up my skin tone.
The shade is neutral with no pink, yellow, or orange undertones. That works for me although my skin can handle yellow undertones as I have them already.
Once applied, this foundation looks natural on my skin and doesn't look thick or cakey. It stays put quite well although I do use a primer underneath it which greatly helps any foundation to stay put.
I apply blush over this and don't use a finishing powder. I haven't had any issues with the foundation fading or looking patchy.
I actually did wear NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation when a picture was snapped of my sisters and I when we went out one night. The picture looked fine but I didn't see any special radiance or anything. I looked very natural without any shine.
The foundation washes off fine with my usual cleanser and doesn't cause breakouts or irritation on my skin.
I like it quite a bit but it isn't as dewy as I prefer. It has a natural finish rather than satin or dewy which is probably for the best but I have dry skin and always feel like I need a dewy finish. Although I don't get that from the foundation, I also do not get creasy foundation in my fine lines or powdery looking skin.
In all, this is a good foundation for normal skin types as well as those with combination and moderately dry skin. If covers quite nicely and lasts. Many have compared this foundation to MAC Studio Fix if that is any help.
You can purchase NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation Color in Soft Beige or any of the other shades at mass-market and drugstores on and offline. It's not cheap at $15.00 but it's less pricey than high end stuff and looks as nice on my skin. I will continue to use this along with my other favorites. 4 stars,
