Pros: Nice looking, great pen, calculator capable of handling a checking account and 2 credit cards
Cons: A little bulky, wish it kept track of checks as well as balance, slightly pricy
The cannon checkbook III is a checkbook holder with a calculator, really nice pen, and an insert for holding credit card sized cards. This is a handy little calculator checkbook with just a few flaws. It works wonderfully at keeping track on balances, and two credit cards. And of course it can do basic calculations. That it.
The calculator itself has keeps track of only a balance of the two credit card accounts and the checkbook account. It has deposit and deduction buttons for each account. It allows you to see a total for each account and the total between all account. In other words it allows you to see how much you don't have after you pay your credit card bills. It's a nice idea but requires a few things: You need to develop your own system or habits to make sure you enter all deposits and checks. This is worthless if you don't. If I had my choice of improvements to this calculator it would be simple holding the last check number entered. That simple improvement would help this product a huge amount. In it's current state it is not hard to lose track of the balance.
The case is a nice brown. It is permanently attached to the calculator and is made out of something probably synthetic. It comes with an insert for 3 cards which I've found it not enough for myself, but is ok. The size of the whole setup together is a little longer than a common pack of checks and twice as thick. It is terribly bulky at times and I thought the price was just a little on the high side. Overall it is a fair setup as long as you can keep the calculator updated correctly.
