| guha's Full Review: Canon MultiPASS C635 All-In-One InkJet Printer |
A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Canon Multipass 635 --- a combo printer/scanner/faxer/copier --- for my iMac.
The iMac by itself used to be reasonably stable and maybe the Canon by itself is fairly good, but together they are absolutely terrible.
Every single time I have tried to print something, either the computer has frozen or the page feeder got stuck or there was some other kind of error. The canon site suggested increasing the memory allocated to the printing application. This helped some (for example, I had to increase the memory for Internet Explorer to 30MB before it would print anything). But this soon turned out to be a non-scalable solution --- my kid uses the iMac to run a lot of his software and I can't possibly go and increase the memory allocation for every one of his applications!
The copier and fax seen to work moderately well. The color prints are of marginal quality. The software has an option for "high quality copies", but I can't seem to use it without crashing the machine.
I would stay away from this machine till they work the bugs out.
