Having to work out of my home, I needed a basic copier to copy expense reports, receipts and journal papers that my HP OfficeJet couldn't do very well. It also helped to increase my productivity by not having to always go to Kinko's to have something copied. I looked at Xerox, the other Canon models and HP but either they were too large or too pricey. The only thing I have needed to do for maintenance with this copier for the last 1 1/2 years that I've owned it was to replace the toner. Because it is a basic copier, you don't have the speed or capacity of the more expensive copiers. Luckily, I don't need that kind of performance for my needs. I usually only need to copy from 2-6 pages of materials at a time.
One nice feature that this copier has that surprised me was that it has instant warm-up. No need to wait when you turn the copier on like on some big copiers. Copying costs per page is fairly equal to Kinko's. The toner was $90.00 to replace which should last approximately 1000 pages according to the owner's manual. But because I don't need to drive 7 miles to Kinko's, I actually save money in the long run. If you are looking for a basic, inexpensive copier that is near-maintenance free and only copy small batches, this copier definitely can fulfill your needs.
