Great for a Small Business
Written: Jun 27 '01
This copier was such a joy from the dinosaur we replaced. With our old copier, you could turn it on and go wash your car before it was warmed up and ready to go!
This Canon copier has been a great addition to our office. My father and I run an insurance agency (just the two of us) and average approximately 50 - 100 copies per day.
The toner cartridge is great - no muss, no fuss. It simply slides in and goes and goes and goes! (And as proof of how easy it is to replace, even my dad can do it without reading the directions or calling for help!) They indicate that one cartridge probably lasts about 1000 copies, but we've been getting substantially more copies than that. The toner costs approximately $125 (going off memory here from my last trip to the office supply store.)
Everything is also easily replaced. They sell the drum unit at the office supply store and that too, runs around $150 I believe. (don't quote me on this price...)
The feature we love the best is the "instant-on" switch. The copier is ready to go as soon as you press the power button which is so wonderful when you have customers stacked up in your office and need to make copies.
The feeder is great, too. I admit that we have had this unit replaced on our copier, but a sensor went bad. The 3-year warranty handled it all in a very fast, friendly manner. I simply called the warranty line and they had a service technician on our site within 48 hours. The part arrived 24 hours later and we were back up and running. They even offered us a comparable unit to "borrow" if we needed, but it was fixed so swiftly it wasn't necessary.
The feeder does jam if your papers aren't "fanned." For example, we have to make copies of some policies and they arrive bound. Unless you "fan" the papers so that they aren't so tightly compact, it does have a tendency to draw in more than one piece of paper at a time.
We have been very pleased with this copier and should we ever have to would consider another Canon copier immediately. I'm very impressed with the customer service (though I can't say the same for their printers, but that's another topic...) and the warranty is excellent. I am sure it will continue to provide us with clear, crisp copies for the years to come.
