| mtuairau's Full Review: Sharp FO 2950 Plain Paper Laser Fax |
Note: I could not find a category for this particular model so decided to place my review here. I apologize for this ahead of time, but wanted to make sure that I could enter this review somewhere under Sharp faxes.
The Sharp UX-300 is sufficient for our small business use. There’s nothing fancy about it, but the features are easy-to-use, the design is sleek, and it was economical. Previously, we owned a Sharp UX-100 which sufficed for a short time, but we had problems with it and had to have it repaired at least twice. That machine lasted approximately a year. Still, it was great to have a fax machine.
One of the main differences between the UX-100 and UX-300 models is that one uses regular white paper and the other uses the roll variety. I would highly suggest the UX-300 or any fax machine which utilizes regular paper. The UX-300 is easy to load, there are no drawers or trays to fuss with. You simply insert the paper in the back and although it doesn’t have the capacity for large amounts of paper [capable of perhaps 20+ sheets at a time], it shouldn’t matter if you’re not expecting long faxes. If you are, it’s simple to just add more paper.
I also like the feature on both models of the copying capacity. Of course, again, the roller paper is not going to be as high quality as regular ream paper, but if you simply need a quick copy, it helps if you don’t have a Xerox machine. We do own a Xerox machine, but for speedy copies, I have used my fax for this purpose.
The cost was reasonable at $100, less than what I had actually paid for the UX-100 a few years ago. Staples also had a rebate and special sale on the fax, which was appreciated and helpful. It was easy to assemble, with very few pieces, and hook-up was also uncomplicated. I am very happy with the fax and would be lost without one. I have also found Sharp’s customer service to be helpful as they referred me locally to get more direct answers. If you want a low cost fax that works well and is easy to use and set up, Sharp’s the name.
