| amyofcaq's Full Review: Fellowes Powershred® Shredmate Shredder |
What a headache this shredder has been. I bought it at Costco because my husband and I had some old bill and checkstubs that needed to be shredded. It worked great for about 20 minutes!! Then, it quit!! It turns out that the little piece inside the "tank" breaks off. I understand this is a common problem. It happened to my mom who has the same machine.
I could not get this shredder to work after the first time I emptied it. It seems there is a little plastic "prong" that fits into a "plug" on the top of the shredder. This "prong" is what tells the shredder that the lid is on the tank and it is safe to turn on. Unfortunately, this "prong" is very weak and breaks very easily.
I, beleive it or not still have this shredder...I, or should I say my mom, jerry-rigged it so it works. Why did I not simply take it back? It was easier to do this than to tote my four year old, my two year old and my one year old back to Costco to get my money back!!!
I chose this shredder because of its price and its size. It was the smallest and the cheapest I could find...I guess what they say is true...You get what you pay for.
