Pros: Great Phone, definately has a long range. You can add other phones to the base
Cons: Minor voice problems, some slight reception problems. I keep losing it!
The Bottom Line: Great phone. A few issues, but nothing that would stop me from buying it again. Design makes it easy to add more phone around the house without more phone jacks.
shmeles's Full Review: Vtech VT-2431 2.4 GHz 1-Line Cordless Phone
Like many families, mine went through trying times to find a good phone. First, we started off with a corded phone... bad idea unless you like sitting down a lot. Second, we went to a cordless 900mhz phone. Good for moving around, but has a limited range. Next was the 2.4Ghz phone. I quick trip around the block, and I could still talk on the phone.
Last phone I will buy? Most likely... This phone has everything that I was looking for. Caller ID, speakerphone, and an incredible range. I'm able to go to my pool with the phone, and still be able to pick up calls.
The Good
This phone has an incredible range, if I haven't already said it. Caller ID is a must in this day and age, and the speaker phone allows me to check my voice mail while still being able to keep the phone on my desk, enabling me to write this review. I feel that one of the greatest features of this phone is that it's quasi modular. Instead of buying a whole phone for each room you need one in, you can simply buy only a handset, and it will connect to the base of this unit. Great idea. It saves space, and each handset will charger on any of the chargers and on the base.
The Bad
Due to it's operating range, I've had problems using this phone near my microwave oven, problems to the point where I've had to move out of my kitchen. Due to the frequency of the microwaves, there is an extremely large amount of interference. Also, the general quality of the reception could be somewhat better. I definately notice a difference in range from my 900mhz phone, but a difference in call quality is somewhat debatable. Not really in the 'bad' section, but as with everything that isn't bolted down, I tend to forget where I put the phone. Luckily, the phone does come with a page button. If only my car keys had one of those....
Overall
A great phone, no doubt about it. Definatly worth it if you enjoy spending time outside in the garden or pool, and don't want to miss any calls. The only reservations I have are about using it near a microwave open, and the
so-so call quality. Other than that, great phone! Go buy one if you want to move outside of your front door with a phone.
