My girls are all about the home nail salon.  They like to be creative and decorate their finger nails each day before school.  It’s been hard to find Opi nail brand locally, but recently I ran across a large selection of Nicole by Opi at Target.   I noticed the color Step 2 the beat of my <3.  We have tons of glitter polish, but it normally shows up on the nails as sparse and uneventful.  Like many other glitter polishes, this bottle lured me in with a visually ample mix of glitter and pink and purple confetti hearts in a clear polish.  I couldn’t resist, though I should have.   

This look is obviously not going to be pulled off successfully by this mom but I wanted to see what I was missing.  I tried to just paint my nails in a normal fashion, but it was rare that a heart came out.  I started trying harder to get the hearts on each finger nail which resulted in a more polish than expected per each nail.  I had to dig in the bottle to get the hearts on the brush but then the hearts clumped together on the nail.  I was just dreading what would happen when I tried this on my girl’s tiny finger nails.  Disaster, that’s what. 

Applying this polish will require patience and a perfect look will be hard to achieve.  When it does work, it looks cool.  The hearts look exactly like confetti on the nails.  The lacquer pretty much glues the hearts on and there’s just a slight hint of blue glitter that sometimes catches the light.  The hearts slide around but once the polish is dry the hearts are not going anywhere.  The polish dried rather quickly despite how thick I put it on. 

The .5 ounce bottle of nail polish runs around $7 but don’t expect it to last as long as other bottles.  I am using more clear polish than hearts.  I’m not sure the hearts will ever come out.   The bottle shaped with a slant on the bottom to make it easier to apply and reduce the risk of tipping.  It’s no surprise that this has a nail polish smell to it but it wasn’t overwhelming. 

The hearts are raised on the nail so it does have a rough feel.  A couple of the hearts came off right away but the rest were securely attached.  I picked at them throughout the evening because they were annoying me.  Nicole by Opi in general has a great formula that lasts longer and chips less than other drug store brands I’ve used.  I was surprised that this one also was long-lasting.  

The hearts look interesting on the nail, but the polish itself lacks color.  For a more eventful look another color can be used for the base coat.   I tried a lilac purple as a base and the pink hearts on top for a very youthful look for a child. 

Removing the polish became a challenge.  The hearts were not removed with finger nail polish remover.  I had to pry each one off of each nail.    

There is a tag hanging on the bottle that has a picture of Justin Beiber.  It says, the One Less Lonely Girl Collection – Designed with the fans, for the fans in support of Pencils of Promise.  Join Justin and PoP to build 100 schools around the world. 

The bottle looks really awesome, but the final product did not look like I expected and not worth the effort in my opinion.
