blindboy22's Full Review: Garmin eTrex Legend Handheld GPS Receiver
This is a nifty little GPS. It doesn't do much in the way of road travel, but if you want a good GPS to toy around with or map your biking routes, this is definitely the way to go.
First look:
The device is very attractive with a clear blue case. The buttons are rubber and the device is water resistant.
Interface:
I found the interface to be very good, easily allowing you to look for things and find certain POIs and stored locations. It has a few cool features, such as sunrise/sunset calculator, a regular number calculator, and a backlight when you're using it in the dark.
Durability:
This thing is definitely meant to be used outdoors. I actually dropped it and my rear bike wheel ran over it. It was fine and working well. You can tell quality craftsmanship went into the making of this unit.
Length to locate satellites:
The only problem with this device is the time it took to orient you and locate satellites. I was quite annoyed, having to wait for a long time for the unit to tell me where I am. At some times, it would take 3-4 minutes to locate the satellites. I tried this both when I was moving and standing still in a wide open cul-de-sac with no luck either times.
