I found Papermate Inkjoy pens when scanning for points at the store with my Shopkick or Checkpoints App on my iPhone. I can not remember which App I was scanning with but I get points for scanning different items and when I scanned the Papermate Inkjoy Pens I decided to buy them for myself. General Info: Papermate Inkjoy Ballpoint Pens have a medium point and come in 8 different colors. Each pen is the color of the ink and has a nice padded rest to make writing more comfortable. The pens also write very smoothly to add to your comfort when writing. When I was trying them out I was writing a note to my daughter and was really glad I bought them because the colors were so fun and while I am not a fan of writing hand written notes these pens moved so smoothly on the paper that it made me want to write even more.

Packaging: The Papermate Inkjoy pen set comes in a package that consists of a cardboard backing with a molded plastic overlay that holds the pens in place. The packaging is easy to open and at least the cardboard can be recycled. I appreciated that the packaging was minimal but sufficient for protecting the pens.

Tip Seal: One neat thing I really liked about this pen set is that each ball point pen had a small tip seal which was like a small plastic bead covering where the ink comes out. This prevents the pens from leaking in the packaging. I have never seen that before and thought it was a great idea.

Colors: The colors included in this 8 pen set are Black, Red, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Purple, Pink, Orange, and Green. All colors are vivid enough to show up well on white paper.

Pen Specifics: the pens are typical in length at about 5.5 inches long. They are not real narrow at about 3/8" wide. The pens have a clip to clip them in your pocket or on your notebook. Each pen has a 2" long soft padded area near the bottom where you grip the pen while writing. The casings of the pens are clear but tinted with the same color as the ink. The tubes that hold the ink are white so you can not really see if you are running low on ink. Pens do not have a cap but have a button and spring that holds the ballpoint inside the pen casing when not in use. I like that the pens are the same as the color of the ink so it is easy to find the color that you want.

Using the pens: As advertised these pens are a joy to write with. If I was a student taking notes I would love to have these pens. I think the soft grip would really cut down on fatigue plus these write so smoothly with no drag at all. They really are something special. The pens do not give a very fine line but are a medium point. I actually prefer the medium point as it is easier to read. I have tried all the colors and written a few notes plus took notes at a meeting with them. I have not noticed any ink globs or other unpleasant pen events. I am hoping to love these pens for a long time.

Final thoughts and Rating

I love absolutely everything about these pens except that they are made in China instead of the United States. We really need the jobs here in the USA and as a consumer I would be willing to pay a little more if that is what it takes to get the jobs back here in the USA. I would give these pens 5 stars but have to take off one for the fact that they are not made in the USA.
