The Bottom Line: A must see. Make sure to bring a panoramic camera to capture the beauty it gives a whole different perspective than a regular 35mm. Don't forget your video camera.

The Grand Canyon is quite spectacular.
We traveled to the Park in April of 2001. We stayed at the Bright Angel Lodge on the South Rim. We stayed in their cabins on the canyon rim which are separate from the lodge. The rate is approximately $100 per night but definitely worth it.
The view from our cabin window looked out onto the Grand Canyon. What a totally awesome site to wake up to. We also had the opportunity to spot some elk on our drive through the park as well as walk up on some deer right outside our front door one morning.
Some people might say that one view of the Grand Canyon looks just like another but you must take the bus tour that drops you off at each scenic location and depending on the time of day and the weather it will look different from moment to moment and view to view.
Please allow at least a minimum of 4 days to take in all the things to do at the park.
We frequented the local restaurants in the park and found the prices to be quite reasonable. They also have a cafeteria where you have an informal seating and ala-cart menu.
We were not brave enough to take the mule ride but we did have a day excursion to a smooth water rafting trip. The rafting trip left from the Lodge inside the Grand Canyon, it was about a 2 hour drive and quite informative the bus driver answered lots of questions about the park and working in the park as well as giving us lots of information on the parks, people who worked there and the private school system they have on site for the employees children.
The Grand Canyon also has its own Railroad Station from which you can travel to and from.
