| roynyr's Full Review: Grand Canyon National Park |
This place has the right name. The most impressive and awe inspiring sight that I have ever seen in my life ( by far ) is the Grand Canyon. I can try to describe its' beauty and sheer vastness in this epinion but that is impossible. The Grand Canyon is one of the wonders of the world which has to be seen to believe. When I got off the tour bus that I took there from Las Vegas for a full day trip to the canyon, I was stunned by its' size. Friends of mine had told me about and I had seen the pictures and videos of it but it was a hundred times bigger than I thought it would be! The longest point distance wide in the canyon is about 10 miles long. That is incredible if you really think about it.
I also could not believe just how deep it was. Our tour guide let us know that some of the rock formations at the Grand Canyon were over six million years old which is hard to fathom. I had my video camera with me which has magnification up to 30 times and I still could not believe how far down it was to the bottom of the canyon with the 30 times magnification. We went around the edge of the Grand Canyon and stopped off the bus about five times to get differing view of it. Each view was just as incredible as stunning.
The one thing I felt bad about was that I only was there for one day because there is so much more to experience. I only saw a small portion of its' greatness. There are many different types of animals living in the canyon from squirrels to birds. It is nature at its' best.
One very interesting ( odd? ) fact about the Grand Canyon. The most expensive McDonalds in the United States is located there. Don't know why I remember that from the tour guide but I do.
At one point we stopped at a point that was hanging over the canyon. You stepped there and you felt as though you were having an out of body experience. There is a souvenir shop along the Grand Canyon which must be visited. It has everything you can want about it from books to t-shirts to other keepsakes of it. Definitely get some souvenirs because the experience is so memorable. Like I said earlier, it is hard to describe the Grand Canyon but if you ever have a chance to take a trip there, absolutely do not pass it up.
