I remember visiting the Grand Canyon as a child and being amazed at the size and beauty. It was no different as an adult and my kids enjoyed it tremendously! It was very interesting to see them appreciate this amazing site.
We visited the North Rim first and would highly recommend this if the timing is right. It is only open from mid-May to late October because of the winter weather.
The North Rim is much less crowded and has more beautiful views. It is less commercialized and quaint. We also had lunch at the North Rim Lodge and enjoyed it tremendously-great food, good service and a great view of the canyon.
The South Rim is much larger and more crowded. It is also commercialized with several shops and restaurants, but absolutely beautiful!!
We didn't do any tours, hiking or mule rides, but have heard that is the way to really see the canyon.

An absolute must at the Grand Canyon - stay for the sunset!!
