Honeymoon Island,forget it and save your money!!!!

Pros: Beach ok and area is nice.
Cons: Water forget it!! you can't enter it without paying a price!!
The Bottom Line: If you like to use the gulf to swim in FORGET IT!!

On 13 Oct 05 my wife and i and two other couples went to Honeymoon Island.I had been there previously about two years ago.At that time it was great as long as you can avoid the worst thing about it.At that time the problem only extended from the Honeymoon island Cafe down to the change area structure which is the only other structure on the beach area.But now it's the whole length of the beach!!!
What is it you ask?? no it's not sting rays and it's not jelly fish.It's BOULDERS!!!! Well they're not that big but they are at least fist size.If you don't twist an ankle or get bone bruises on the bottom of your feet trying to get to the sandy bottom beyond them you'll be very lucky.Today the bottom of my feet are really sore.I gingerly danced on those rocks for at least 5 minutes to get out about thirty feet to where it started getting sandy.I also had 2 hip replacements so maybe it took a little longer for me than it would take you.But for sure there will be no running and diving into the water.
As an added note there were at least 5 mothers with their children and none of the children went into the water.They were all small so mom would have to hold them up.But the moms were talking about how they couldn't stand on the rocks and hold their children up at the same time.
Do your self a favor and go down to CLEARWATER BEACH which is further south.Put the $5 you pay at Honeymoon toward parking at CLEARWATER BEACH and enjoy a totally white sand beach that extends all the way out into the water as far as you can go!!!!!!!!
