Honeymoon Island Florida, sounds like a place you'd like to honeymoon, but it's really a park for nature lovers!
When you drive over the bridge onto Honeymoon Island, you'll be charged a small fee to park on the island and enjoy your day! Bring a picnic lunch, some Mosquito repellent at certain times of the year (Summer, Fall), and plenty of liquids! Most of the beaches here are small and some are very rocky! I would suggest you equip yourself with some good tennis shoes and some beach water shoes for exploring!
Exploring! Yes this is a good place to explore! Walk along the beaches looking for Shells, and bits of Coral (which are rare...but you can find a few good specimens). Collecting is common hobby here. During the summer...remember to do the Stingray Shuffle, which is shuffling your feet in the water along the beach so the stingrays are scared off...you definitely don't want to get stung! Keep an eye out for dolphins and even Mantees as well.
You should bring your camera, you might catch a glimpse of some of the wonderous birds here in Florida, like the Herons, Wood Storks, Pelicans, Ibis, Comorants, etc., not to mention the beautiful sunsets Florida is known for!
Honeymoon Park has a Gift Store and Restrooms open during the daylight hours only! The park closes at dusk!
While there you might want to catch a boat over to Caldesi Island, there is also a $5 - $7 dollar fee for each person, where again you'll want to be equipped with plenty of drinks and lunch. Once at Caldesi, most people hike around (watch out for snakes and gators!) or tan/burn in the sun...so don't forget that suntan/sunblock lotion either and sunglasses to protect your eyes! A hat will also help keep the sun off your face!
Some people enjoy water sports, such as SeaDoos, Wind Surfing and just playing the water! Always use common sense and safety precautions in the water, never leave children unattended or without sunblock, the Florida sun is sometimes overwhelming!
All in all, it's a good place a fun in the sun afternoon!
