We left for a week long vacation, and I am sure we looked ridiculous. Our small flock of three or four cars landing at a gas station, then us arguing about where to go who wants to ride with who and so on.
Family vacations never go without arguments, and we, as the entire extended family went, were a large family filling three campsites on Wellesley Island. We try to go every year because we always have a great time regardless of our varying opinions.
We swam in the river off "the point", we roasted marshmallows by the campfire, we tanned on the small beach, we participated in the various activities offered by the friendly staff of the park. A few minutes away is the tourist town of Alexandria Bay where tours are offered on boats of the river. The history of the 1000 Island's is explained on these tour boats. Ferries are offered daily from Alex Bay to Heart Island, an island made into the shape of a heart and a mansion on it all immersed in a sad love story from many years ago.
Besides Alex Bay, Canada is not far away. There are places for boats(on which are many parties) and the water is great for fishing. We always make new friends there, and enjoy the hiking trails.
Wellesley Island is great for us as a family, and for anyone looking for a fun time.
