Where do I start?? Detroit Lake has so many differnt things to do. Ok, I'll start with the camp sites.
Every year a group of 30 or so go up there and go camping for the weekend. The campsites are very spacy and have tons of room to do a lot of things. The pricing is also very reasonable. We paid $45 for one campsite for 3 days and 3 cars parked on it.
The swiming areas are very big and have a diving board you can dive off of. The shoreline is very big and also is great to lay down on and get a tan. We would walk down to the docks at night and tell ghost stories. Or one year we even rented a boat and went out to the middle of the lake.
There is tons of hiking to be done out there. I'm not a hiker so I can't tell you much about it. But there is one spot I hike up to every year. It's about a 3 mile hike and then you get to a footbridge and it's about 75 feet up in the air and drops into about 50 feet of water. We would jump off that bridge so many times it was so much fun.
I love Detroit Lake and will contine to go there every year.
