Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
When we went to go visit my brother and his family out in Oregon he wanted to show us some of the local parks that they frequent. He saved the best for last when he took us all out to Silver Falls!! It was quite a drive from his home in McMinnville, but I believe that it was totally worth every minute!
The parks are so beautiful, and because we were there in September there weren't very many people out because of the chill in the air. So it was even better that we could walk the trails and see the falls without fighting off a million people, but then again I don't know if it is ever busy there, I never asked him.
There are 10 falls in the park, and there is actually a trail that flows along the whole park and allows you to view each and every fall. There are about 3 of the falls that you can hike down and go behind, and this is great, I definately recommend this!!
I also love the trails, they are clear enough that you don't have to worry too much about tripping and falling, but they aren't paved or anything, so you still feel like you are right out there in nature. There is nothing like this where I live! And there are some really beautiful trees out there also. There was this one tree down by one of the falls that was bent and arched over the trail naturally. It was covered with moss and all sorts of stuff like that. It looked so beautiful, and reminded me of something you might find in a fairy tale of sorts!
We spent the whole day out on the trails, we didn't take the whole trail around the park to each fall since we had three kids with us (ages 1 to 8) but we drove between the major falls and saw all of those, and hiked around quite a bit. The kids didn't have a problem at all, well the 1 year old was in one of those kid backpacks so she definately had no trouble. But the other kids hiked through it like it was nothing to them. My mom who also has some trouble walking did just fine as long as she could sit down once in a while, and luckily there were benches every so often for just that!
The park is really well taken care of, and it so beautiful that it is a must see if you are near!! I haven't camped there, we just spent the day and then went home, but I definately would love to stay there for a few days and see everything!!
