| jlundquist1's Full Review: Lake Whitney State Park |
We visited this park in '05. After purchasing our pop-up camper we made several trips to state parks around Texas before realizing the jewel that we had so close to home. Whitney SP is so much better that most of the Army Corp. Parks around the lake. Almost all the sites at Whitney are secluded and even when the park is full I'm sure it seems very secluded. The park advertises one swimming beach but there are several areas fit for swimming throughout the park. The bathrooms (at least at the site(s) where we stayed were new and pristine. The hiking trails were great especially for those with children. Plus the city of Whitney has plenty of stores to keep you stocked up while camping. The only down side is the typical state park per person, per day fee. I'd feel better if they just up-ed the campsite fee for those who stayed.
